Let's rededicate the Washington Monument!

I think that while it was appropriate to name this giant phallus for the "father" of our country, times have changed. It would now be more appropriately named "The Clenis Mounment" after the greatest president of the last 25 years!

I hope this isn't a dupe.

2. how strange . . . memories collide today

I posted last week about my friend Jeff. Today I learned he lives in Michigan.

During a visit home in 1981, Jeff mentioned that he'd been to DC and he specifically mentioned the Washington Monument -- I don't remember in what context; perhaps just in telling me all that he'd seen -- and he called it "the great penis in the sky in Washington."

I think it should be renamed "the National Phallic Symbol." After all, that's what our government in Washington is all about: whose is bigger, or who is more willing to use his as a figurative instrument of rape of his fellow Americans.

(I drive past that thing twice every working day and every single time I think of Jeff.)
