Impact of the anti-gay marriage state ballot initiatives
Karl Rove the Insane claims that four million Christians didn't come out to vote in the year 2000 and that state ballot initiatives will get them out in droves and they will all vote for Bush while they are at it. Seems to me that if four million Christians didn't bother to vote last time, maybe they wern't "Bush Christians". I'm not a Christian myself, but If I were, I would find it very offensive if everyone just assumed that I was going to vote for Bush.

I'll admit, I am worried about how this will play out in the states. In 1982, Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley ran for Governor of California. He narrowly lost because there was a gun initiative(can't remember if it was pro or anti)on the ballot and it got the gun nuts to go out and vote.

Opinions?

1. Marriage initiative on AR ballot
but most Arkansans are mad at the Repuke governor and more and more are mad at Bush-they know that our Guardsmen weren't properly protected because they raised money for equipment! People are more skeptical and, like you, don't like to be taken for granted by Shrub and Company, be they Southerners or Christians or even conservatives. I predict that, alas, the marriage amendment will pass here but that Kerry will take the state.

2. I'm sure Rove is right
105,586,274 people voted (or had there votes counted) in 2000. The US voting age population (VAP) was 205,815,000 in 2000. Only 76% of the VAP was registered to vote in 2000. Only 67.5% of registered voters actually voted. There are about 100,000,000 people of voting age who didn't bother to vote in 2000. Surely 4,000,000 are evangelical Christians.

3. Wait until Rove sees who else didn't come out to vote in 2000
Or those who did come out, but weren't counted.

4. Gay marriage is on the November ballot here in Mississippi but
we're a lost cause anyway. If Kerry wins here, you're looking at a 70% landslide nationally. :eyes:
