Jim Hightower joins the pre-November new book release race
If Bush steals the election again, will there continue to be a market for books like this? And if he loses, won't we all be too busy repairing the damage of the last four years to care? Everybody's stepping up for their slice of the "Anyone But Bush" pie NOW. Part of me welcomed Hightower's book...the other part asked the "when is enough enough" question.

"New" Molly Ivins (actually a "new" collection of "old" columns), followed by "new" Jim Hightower. Who's next? Who cares?

2. I care!
Hightower is great. I get his newsletter and devour it eagerly. And his book "Yellow Stripes & Dead Armadillos remains a great reference, especially the chapter on how unemployment figures are cooked.

You may think he's a bandwagoner, but he's got a lot to offer.

4. I got to see him speak in person last year. That was a powerful afternoon
All the jazzed up energy of a tent revival with none of the bogotry or guilt trips. *lol*

6. I bought this one and I also own "Thieves In High Places"
I like him too (that's why I bought the new one), I've also read most of what's on his Web Site, and I agree that he has a lot to offer. I know that the cover bothers me...Hightower and humor go hand-in-hand, but this just seemed a little "Mad Magazine" to me (no offense to fans of Mad). I made the mistake of expecting more (or maybe I really don't understand Hightower at all...maybe I just read one of his books and drew some false conclusions).

I honestly don't know if he's a "bandwagoner" because I don't know him as a person. That's the real question I was asking...how does one separate the wheat from the chaff?

It's like the Gipper merchandise that sprouted up on EBAy after Reagan's death...crap nobody needs, crap that they probably don't even want, but they're caught up in the heat of the moment so they reach for the MasterCard.

I believe we will see an increase in two kinds of crap between now and November...the "Viva Bush" crap, and the "Anyone But Bush" crap.
