Television commercials and the price of milk
I watched NBC news tonight (CBS wasn't on at its usual time). It seemed they broke for commercials half a dozen times. My guess it was 10-15 minutes of commercials for a 30 minute "news" show. :(

Also, I went grocery shopping. $4.09 for a gallon of milk. What is up with that? Oh, yeah, they tell me inflation is "edging up"... :( Why can't the guvmint "show their work" when it comes to calculating inflation? Show me exactly what's in the "basket", show me what those things cost in various cities last month (and every month before), show me what they cost now, show me how you weight each item, and of course show me your final number. Is that so difficult??? :(

1. Because it's probably based on prices of things people don't buy ...
like spats, liverwurst, and "The National Review."

2. I pay $1.50 for a gallon of milk
but they say they're upping it to $2.00 soon.

Bush's economy is causing a dangerous amount of inflation of goods without raising wages or creating jobs. He's devaluing our currency. Organizations that use the dollar are going to switch to the Euro unless we do something to control this.

This is insane. Not enough economists are coming out about this.

3. My mistake. I didn't pay $4.09 for a gallon. It was $4.29.
Are you sure you didn't get just a 1/2 gallon for your $1.50?

4. It was definitely a gallon
Wegmans here in Rochester, NY. I don't know how they do it but they have the cheapest milk and eggs in the US. A dozen large eggs is $1.
