Good news about Freeper gym owner. . . |
|
I go to a small gym here in northern Indiana. Yesterday (Saturday is a slow day) I was having a conversation with the owner while I was working out. She saw F911 Friday night and all she can talk about is the Bush "7 minutes of infamy". She is completely fixated on it. She kept saying, "why didn't he get up and make a phone call or something?" I was able to set her straight on a lot of things, and told her to stop watching any network or cable news. She was shocked that I knew about this stuff already.

Decided to see it instead of "I, Robot". He was afraid she would lust after Will Smith. Anti-American propoganda is, apparently, more palatable to him than his wife looking at a black man. And more power to him!

And I say that as a (for most part) straight white male.

3. Word of mouth has always trumped propaganda every time. |

Good for you for taking the time to talk to them. Sometimes I don't bother because I am rather busy and sometimes I just get tired of it.

5. We'll she ban Fox News from her TV screens .... |
|
... it would go a LONG way. Play Discovery Channel instead and educate while you sweat.

They generally play daytime TV stuff there, unlike my car dealership, which is Fox 24/7. I have always know their political affiliation and keep a CD player with earphones with me when I'm there. They used to have CNN on the TV all the time, but someone must have complained. I don't love soap operas, but I prefer them to right-wing propoganda.

They play TV? I've never been in a gym that played TV in the background, always music. Although one gym played "soft rock," and running to soap operas might have been easier.

It's a small one room place.

13. A lot of them have TV's, you can either listen on pretuned FM stations |
|
that correspond to the TV's channel (around here it's cable news or ESPN usually) on portable stereos with radio, or some have their own system that you plug into with headphones, on each of the exercise machines.
Sometimes I am a news junkie but if I am having a serious 30-60 min aerobic workout and breathing hard, music (mp3's) works much better to keep my motivation up.

My husband says he went to a gym for a while that had the stock market (probably CNBC) on a TV, but that's the only TV he's seen in a zillion or so gyms.
I need strong music for the elliptical trainer because I run in time with the music. On most of the equipment I use, I do a couple of sets and move on. On the bike, I read.

- with her permission - you could leave a few copies of "The Whispering Campaign" lying around the gym. (See link below)

struck me also-why didn`t he leave? of all the crap that bush has done this sticks in my mind the most..why? i think it showed in that moment in the crisis of America he was a sniffling coward -then he ran away and hid while others faced the situation with courage and the American spirit..i wish every network would have shown this film...i hope kerry will
