1. the bigger question
is why would you be friends with somebody who thinks war is a joke? Do you think a photograph will change his mind?

I too have a friend that is extremely ignorant of the state of war. He thinks Arabs are out to blow everything up and is paranoid of brown people, (yet he's good friends with me and I'm brown). He's a good friend and I enjoy his company, but I really dislike talking politics with him (I've tried...it's tough to get through to him).

Some people might be shocked by pictures, but I'm afraid you're right. Many people just refuse to open their eyes and accept the truth.

... why won't your friend enlist, so he'll be sure not to miss all the fun?

If you can't find photos, send him to F. 9/11. Plenty of gore there.

Cheers.

16. I have an idea for these photos...

They should be reproduced en masse and with the heading, "Who Would Jesus Bomb?", distributed to every congregation of every church in America. Yes, I would like to see every self-righteous hypocrite who has not stood up against this war (and the pastors of these flocks) to see each and every one of these pics. Would they then be willing to stand up in public and witness that they would be proud to give pass these photos along to St Peter when they stand before the Pearly Gates? After all, St Peter knew a thing or two about denying Christ when push came to shove.

Yes, make sure that not only the Jerry Falwells of the world have to explain themselves to Jesus, but every single Christian whose silence implies consent for this killing crusade, every American who warps themself up in the flag to rationalize "righteous" torture and murder.

If every pastor and each member of every congregation had the courage to stand against this war no power in Washington could stand against them. Sadly, too many -- certainly not all -- call themselves Christians yet seem to have forgotten the words of Christ himself. For them, a short primer should accompany the photos as a reminder that being a Christian means following the footsteps and the words of Christ himself:

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called Sons (and Daughters) of God.

For I was hungry and you gave me food,
I was thirsty and you gave me drink,
I was a Stranger and you Welcomed me,
I was naked and you clothed me,
I was sick and you visited me,
I was in prison and you came to me.'
Truly, I say to you,
as you did it to
one of the least of these,
my brethren,
you did it to me.

Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Perhaps Mr.Bush, who claims to be annointed by God, should read these words rather than "My Pet Goat" or some selective passage by which to persecute and pronounce judgment on gays. Funny how this brand of Christianity to which Mr Bush subscribes can be so selective in its practice.

Compare the above quotes of Christ with these from a professed Christian:

A MESSAGE FOR YOU BELIEVERS by Larry Yarber

This is for you people out there that are Christians, or so-called Christians. If you are in Jesus Christ and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, it is best that you study closely, because the events of this world are beginning to happen. Jesus did say that there will be wars, so you people who are trying to stop the wars, you are going against what is in the bible. Jesus said that nations will rise up against nations, so you people out there who are trying to stop those things, stand clear, because you are actually fighting against God Almighty yourself. For I tell you this, even as of today (I say this today in the month of January), that Saddam Hussein, who is a tyrant, is going to die. The reason why he is going to die is simply that Jesus Christ said, “He that lives by the sword shall die by the sword.” Therefore, Saddam Hussein has violated the laws of God and therefore this nation will destroy them....

Some would say that in my post I myself am passing judgment on all Christians -- this is not so. Only upon the millions who wrap themselves up in Christianity to persecute others as to exalt themselves, or those who staunchly profess to be Christians though, like St Peter, denying they know him (Jesus) when taking a stand means accepting the risk. Is one more hypocritical than the other? I would say not.

So yes, perhaps a new crusade is in order, one to shake the consciences of millions of Christians and pastors in this country -- a primer of these photos accompanying the words of Christ himself ought to do, distributed to every house of worship in this nation. If that doesn't prick their righteous conscience, then I'm sure they won't mind presenting it to Christ as their proud ticket to heavenly admission.

9. The joke is on US.
As much as I think the warnings of "tarst" attacks are politically motivated, I am sure they will happen here again. Afterall, there was an open invitation from the chimp in chief to "bring it on."
