The call-ups of the Guard and reserves may end up saving us money
There are lots of "older" soldiers who have stayed in the reserves and guard, in order to draw the extra money , and to have medical privileges when they are "active",, I have a feeling that as soon as it's humanly possible, they will be leaving..

My best friend runs the food service section of the officers club at the base here.. It's now a reserve base, so most of the guys that pass through there are older..Their usual routine was to sign in when they arrive and then camp out at the club all day, eating and drinking coffee.. She said that most of them were overweight and very oout of shape too..

The call-ups must have been a huge wake-up for lots of these middle aged guys.. We have a mutual friend who was called up last year.. Luckily for him he was sent to Greece and returned safely, but the guy's wife was a basketcase..He's 50 years old, and they have TWO kids in college..

I have this feeling that as people finish their military obligation, more and more of them will pass on the reserves thing..

Readiness is another thing , though.. With a thinning reserves and guard, the soldiers will HAVE to come from somewhere..

Does it feel "drafty" in here???

Whatever we save.... can be absorbed by Halliburton, KBR, and the rest involved in the feeding frenzy.

2. And it sure makes nice middle aged doctors making a mint mad.
Plus their wifes, children their office people and every one that goes to him, plus the people who are with those people. It also sort of drills into this man what war does to a little old leg or arm or maybe a child in Iraq.
