Bwahaha! RWinger C-Span caller compared BUSH* to SAINT PAUL!
Bush* might have been awol but he was young. Saint Paul was a sinner until he saw the light on his way to Damascus. Bush now is the same way, he is a different man (Bwahahahahaha!!!! Bush compared to a saint!)

1. Ehh, having been brought up a Christian...
I can see the comparison. Frankly I have always thought St. Paul was completely overrated. His conversion was a sham and a friend of mine even believes that he was a plant by the Romans to turn Christianity into a hard-line religion that marginalized women.

So in some people's opinion they're very much cut out of the same cloth... Intolerant assholes who hid behind fake religious conversions to further their sick, evil agendas. Let the comparison stay. It flatters neither.

4. I DISLIKE St. Paul. A lot of the problems with the Catholic church's
attitude against women started with him. When you read his writings you really want to puke.

2. that's ok, Paul was a lunatic too!
Didn't think much of women and wrote some real arm-twisting letters of solicitation "for God".

6. Bush is on his way to Damascus if re-elected
Well, OK, he'll just going to send a bunch of young men and women to die in Syria but he'll say, "We're going to Damascus"

7. I just finished a fine history of the Knights Templar
and Paul does not make a good candidate for sainthood. Evil is probably the best description.

Then again, nothing about the church was done without money, power and death being heavily involved.

Oh, those sex scandals? even back in the 600s they were raping little boys and girls in the name of the church. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

8. I can see the comparison
I'm not a huge Paul fan, although I am a christian. Paul's letters were never meant to be scripture, considered on par with the word of God. That's not his fault, however, that the church decided they were.

Paul was a violent and dangerous man prior to his conversion. He helped to kill St. Stephen and other christians. The only difference I guess is that Paul stopped killing people after his conversion, whereas W ran for Governor and was able to start legally killing people as Governor of Texas.

10. Yeah and they are both mysoginistic as well.
I never had much appreciation for St P:aul. I am not a christian, but I do tihnk that the Christ would not found much in St. Paul he would have agreed with.

My sense is St. Paul was more authoritarian than christian. Bush is not christian either any more than Stalin understood Lenin's policies.

13. Saint Paul's letter to the Corinthians was his finest moment
And bush is nothing like Saint Paul in this letter to the Corinthians.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never ends; as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For our knowledge is imperfect and our prophecy is imperfect; but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood. So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. (I Corinthians 13)

But I agree, bush is very much like the misogynistic side of Saint Paul. He was, like bush, a tool of TPTB and fooled a lot of the people a lot of the time.
