New Fox reality show: "Trading Places" - great family values...NOT!
Edited on Mon Jul-19-04 07:56 AM by terrya
In case you haven't seen the promos for this thing, it's a reality show where mothers and wives are switched around different families...fuck, it's wife swapping, for Christ's sake.

Of course, let's remember that two gay men and two lesbians marrying are single handedly destroying the institution of marriage. Or so people like Senator fecal matter and lube (R-PA) would have you believe.

2. I never have understood...
Why Fox television is the smuttiest, filthiest network ... meanwhile the news organization is the most uptight, right-wing news source.

Why is that? How can the same people who gave us MWC come up with Fox News?

10. There's a very good reason, but going there
will qualify you as a conspiracy theorist.

3. Are they having sex?
If not, it ain't really wife-swapping per the definition that most people associate with the term.

4. Yep, It's Sick. Why aren't the repukes trying to pass an amendment to
the constitution to ban THIS STUFF?? Or "Who wants to marry a billionaire?" or, "the Bachelor"??

god forbid, 2 gay people who love eachother and have been in a committed relationship for years, who pay their taxes, and obey the law should EVER have the right to marry.

WHAT FUCKING BULLSHIT!!

8. ABC has a similar show coming on this fall as well....
Gross!

Plus, as a mother, I have to say that I could not leave my children in the care of someone who I didn't know for a month. (I think its a month-long switch). I won't leave my children in the care of someone I don't know for a few hours!

I cannot imagine what makes people watch this stuff. And sadly, the people who watch it are the very same people who decry the loss of sanctity in marriage.

Go figure.

11. I'm pretty sure it's a chores-and-child-raising swap, not a sex swap
(At least, that's what the newspaper article indicated.)

If that's the case -- I don't have a problem with it. MTV and FX have done similar shows with teenagers -- let a cheerleader in California and a farm girl in Oklahoma, or a black choir boy in Atlanta and a white boy fresh out of rehab in Vermont trade places. The ones I've seen on FX, at least, have been of the "breaking down stereotypes" variety.

Not that it's going to be a good show, but it seems inoffensive. Well, inasmuch as Fox can be inoffensive these days.

13. And you're right
for the original "Wife Swap" in the UK, at least - which is now on its third series. Most of the couples wouldn't touch each other with bargepoles - they are, as you say, chosen to get each other to break down stereotypes.

So many of the posters here leap to the ideas of people cheating on their spouses, without any evidence. Why? Does it satisfy some stereotypes of their own? or is it projection?

12. I can't imagine leaving my kids for a month, especially
to raise someone else's kids. This is insane. I can't imagine the how hard this would be on little children to lose their mommy for a month.
