2. I'm sorry but this is getting ridiculous
Edited on Mon Jul-19-04 09:53 AM by noahmijo
Look his comments were poor taste for a person in his position I'll agree to that.

But this notion that it was homophobic, ect, c'mon! everyone knows he was referring to the old parodies that Dana Carvey and Kevin Nealon used to do back in the 80's so stop with this he's a homophobic, sexist, ect, go after him for being unprofessional.

6. Well yea they do
I agree there they were immature, ill-advised, unprofessional, all those things, but THAT'S what should be slammed home over and over again. I mean I don't live in Cali I'm not aware of what the budget thing is all about at the moment, but if what Arnold is doing with the budget so horribly wrong well then spend time showing charts evidence ect instead of just screaming labels.

7. How about using the term "terminate" about lawmakers?
What does "terminate" mean in his movies? That ALONE shows he's not fit to be in office. The "girlie man" comment is another sign that he's not fit... he's the governor of California, probably the first or second most gay populated state, and he has the stupidity and, really the ego to say something like that? It IS offensive.

I'm not big on the homophobic label... I don't think people who hate gays are afraid of gays, it's more accurate to say they hate them because they are different. I agree, labelling his comment as homophobic is wrong. He's just a pig. A chauvanistic pig. More accurately, he's an insensitive, unqualified oaf, who is making a mockery of the office of Governor, just as Jesse Ventura did.

8. The terminate thing I think is far more out of line than the girly man bit
Edited on Mon Jul-19-04 10:02 AM by noahmijo
If anything that should be the center focus instead of the girly man thing. Focusing on the girly man bit and ignoring the terminate comments tells me that the senators care more about PC issues than what could be veiled threats if given from anyone else other than Arnold. (Despite what you guys may think I don't think arnold is fit to have anyone accidently get hit by a train)

10. His whole statement was just unbelievably stupid.
Instead of feigning offense, we should just be hitting him back.

Real funny, Arnold. With your name-calling and attempts at bullying you've shown that you're obviously not fit for this job.

9. My problem with it is that he's trying to intimidate Democrats
through schoolyard bully rhetoric.

It's bullshit, and shouldn't be tolerated in politics. You don't go around name-calling to get your way.

accusations.

12. And it wasn't funny, either.
You're not Hans OR Franz, buddy. You may look and sound like them, and be of about the same intelligence, but they're SNL characters. Let's stick to the issues at hand instead of suddenly reverting to junior high school immaturity.

16. or...
go after him for what he said before the girlie man comments about the democrats being controlled by special interests, unions, and trial lawyers. Attack that, not the bad joke at the end of the statement.

13. Interesting none of you have even picked up
on how insulting this is to females. "Girly" is being used in the most perjorative sense--to be a girl/female is to be identified with something despicable. In the 70's there was a phrase "women as niggers" and this use of girly is "niggerization" all over again. Women ought to be outraged and no man (make that intelligent man) should tolerate this identification of something to be despised with half the world's human beings. . .particularly from someone in a leadership position. What is it with these loose lipped repuke politicians? It hasn't been a week since former L.A. mayor Richard Riordan called a little African American girl "a stupid, dirty little girl."

14. It was a take off from the old SNL bit
I just don't see how it's as bad as the "n" word. I mean were people protesting Carvey and Nealon when they did their spoof of Arnold on SNL? I mean if Arnold used like the C-word or something THEN you'd have something to really complain about, but this act was just dumb and buffonish but hardly in the same league as calling a woman the dreaded c-word or using the n word.

15. I don't think the little girl was black, though.
I heard that rumor, but I thought it was debunked.

17. That "little African American girl". . .
was a blue-eyed, blonde-haired white girl. Kind of amusing, isn't it, how people classify others by superficialities?
