I read Garrison Keillor's "Hometown Democrat" yesterday... |
|
...and it's a great read. Read it in one sitting, a real page turner. I've always admired his work previously, and I like him even more now. I highly recommend this book, it's almost an owners manual for Democrats.

1. From a Reader's Review at Amazon: |
|
"I stopped having anything to do with Garrison Keillor after he used his early morning poets corner on NPR to share vulgarities with Amarica's commuters. I didn't know if he was a Democrat or a Republican or neither. However, after almost driving my kindergartner off the road in a mad effort to save my baby from this man's coarse expressions, I needn't have waited for the title of this book to direct me to his political leanings. It figures!"
Poetry! Vulgarity! Democrats! It figures!
(How come this isn't already off Amazon's website? Does it have anything to do with the book?)

6. Really really reaching aren't they? |
|
Because the only possible thing that he does is occasionally to read modern poets to commuters for a few seconds? I bet they had to research that a lot to come up with this staged comment(which does not quote the poet or work). She needs to play some happy tape for her kid instead of listening to the radio which has a lot worse poisons for the unwary mind than poetry(if the kid is understanding any of it anyway).

3. I admired Keillor for writing this savage indictment of Norm Coleman... |
|
after Coleman was elected to the Senate in 2002. Keillor was saddened that an pathetic, empty, soulless, opportunistic bastard like Coleman would succeed Paul Wellstone.
Keillor wrote the article for Salon immediately after the election. I wish I had printed it out.
