Finally saw F 911 yesterday...

Just had to put in my two cents, the movie finally opened up here where I live. Surprised at how packed the theater was, and the types of people there. Yes, we all applauded at the end of the film.

What an emotional film for me! I already knew everything in the film, except for the lack of senators' signatures, but the humanizing of events really brought everything home. I cried the entire time (unless I was laughing). I was shaking when we left.

The most telling part, though, was my husband, the Desert Storm Marine. He was quiet all the way home. We went into the backyard and sat for a while. Finally, I told him that the movie was preaching to the choir for me, that I couldn't believe I'm still affected. I could hardly talk. I asked why he wouldn't even discuss it. His response?

"Because I'm so angry! I wanted to yell at the screen throughout the movie. I hate what they're doing to the boys over there and the lies they are telling us. It will take some time for me to release the anger, so I have to hold it inside."

My husband, the guy who just wants to earn a paycheck and be left alone, who will vote for Kerry to make me happy, has found his own purpose.

Everyone should see this movie. Everyone. Unfortunately, the Repubs I've talked to simply refuse to.

Trust me, they'll have a new "recruit".

And don't get him started on the "benefits" offered after service - college tuition, VA benefits, etc. Or how they treated him after he was discharged after fighting in Desert Storm. Basically let him off the plane and said "you're on your own".

He got into the service right after high school at 18. Four years of having room/board paid, with some extra spending money. Then expect him to know what to do with himself on his own. Or even how to find a job.

OK, now I'm getting started!

2. I was really emotional during the movie too

even though I already knew almost all of it. Just seeing it all put together, and knowing that a lot more people were finally learning those things really shook me. I'll have to see it again because I know I'll catch more details the second time around.

16. I wasn't sure what I would be seeing...

I truly didn't believe it would shake me up so bad. I guess I thought I'd have a "Hell yeah! That's the truth! Told you so!" feeling.

Instead, great sadness, anger, hope, the whole emotional gamut.

5. Yes, I believe it did.

You can always tell whether or not someone really saw combat.

The one's who talk about their glory days most likely didn't.

The one's who saw it, really don't want to talk about it, are not necessarily proud of it. He saw some horrors over there, and I doubt, in the 13 years I've known him, that I've heard them all.

Retired for 7 years and he's getting called up? That freaks me out. I assured him with the recall thing came around last time he wouldn't be called back up. Methinks I won't mention that one...

The soldier in F 911 who is refusing to go back to Iraq? He really made an impression on my husband. He knew exactly where he was coming from.

My hubby isn't ex-military and has heard me speak on these issues alot. But he wasn't "hot" over any of it or anything.

I also felt the same as you did when i seen the movie. It was stuff I all ready knew. Different seeing it on screen.

A couple days after seeing the Movie, my Hubby who registered independent several years ago and isn't involved in politics one bit, told me that he ordered something on the web. After asking.. ok, begging to be told what it was.. it was Kerry buttens. He had went to a web site about F9/11 and ended up donating to Kerry. HIS FIRST POLITICAL DONATION EVER!

He was a Kerry voter before the seeing the Movie. But he didn't hotly discuss it with those he worked with or anything like that. I think things are alot different now.

One guy here told me that the movie was full of lies. Of course, I asked if he had seen it, he said he hadn't but a friend had. His friend said it was all propaganda. So I quoted my husband when I asked him yesterday if he thought it was propaganda.

"It was full of facts. Propaganda is when you lie and scare people to go to a war that shouldn't be fought."

Another hubby nugget: "Our boys shouldn't be there - we need to send Bush so he can fulfill his tour of duty."

HIS eyes are now EYES WIDE OPEN!
