I think I know what Dubya's gonna do with Iran |
|
Iran has a nuclear program. The weapons portion of it is on hold because of a payment dispute with Russia. Israel is sabre rattling about bombing Iran's nuclear facilities in case this goes ahead.
All Dubya has to do is treat any reaction by Iran to Israel's threats as a provocative act against a friendly-to-US power, or terrorism, or both and attack Iran.
Since all his troops are tied up in Iraq, and since the nuclear card has already been played (Russia's holding trump) Dubya will feel justified to use the bomb on Iran. This takes Israel off the hook and the Arab world will turn further against the United States, which suits Dubya's purpose just fine as any further terrorist act will allow him to use more nukes.
He then can justify the existence of all the nuclear manufacturing facilities and perhaps upgrading them (two guesses who gets the contracts) to manufacture replacement bombs.
I know my :tinfoilhat: is firmly in place, but I can't think of any other reason for doing what he's doing at the moment. He doesn't have enough traditional forces to do anything about Iran and Israel is busy with the Palestinians at the moment.
Dubya wants to push the button in the worst possible way - possibly to bring on the Rapture or make him the "greatest wartime President ever".

2. I almost feel that a nuclear bombing of any middle east country would... |
|
absolutely not be effective! You would have to turn the whole place into glass because I am pretty sure that nobody would take being "liberated" after having the bomb dropped on them. Frankly I think the Japanese only did so to save innocent lives, but I am unsure Muslim culture would view it that way.

3. Bush does seem to be rattling the sabre, but where's the man-power? |

We don't have enough military resources to invade Iran. Even if they started the draft tomorrow (and they surely aren't stupid enough to start a draft until after the election), I don't see how they could raise a trained army fast enough to do the job before next year.

4. I don't think we'd use nukes, but conventional bombing of Iran |
|
would surely get *'s poll numbers up. And there is a precedent, didn't Israel bomb Iraq's nuc-u-ler (excuse the *-style spelling here) facilities in the 80's?

to use nukes either, unless he is really trying to start WW3. We still have those MOAB's we didn't get to use in Iraq, and our air forces are pretty fearsome even limited to conventional weapons.

a couple of flunkies at a border crossing neglected to stamp a handful of passports. They may have been bribed or they may have been negligent. Having traveled through several countries in Europe where I never got my passport stamped ( though I kinda wanted to), this alone simply does not constitute "support of terrorists." Oh but what the heck. Let's nuke a bunch of innocents for the heck of it. Nevermind.

9. We're in hock up to our eyeballs, |
|
we're so desparate we draft 67 year old men to serve, 40% of the rest of the troops in Iraq are trained for Homeland security and the new "gov't" in Iraq is barely wet behind the ears. We don't fund what programs we do have in the states and the gays want to get married in the capitol of DC.
Sounds to me like Bush is going to prempt a strike at Iran. Its about as reasonable as anything else he (and the mysterious disappearing act Rumsfeld) has done.
Do you think the press should report Rumsfeld as AWOL?

Such a strike is likely if Russia supplies Iran with fuel rods for enriching uranium. The rods, currently stored at a Russian port, are expected to be delivered late next year after a dispute over financial terms is resolved.
Next year is too late for Dubya's purposes. He has to nuke by November.

12. Calling All Jews-Come Home! |
|
Makes you wonder why are they calling all Jewish people to migrate to Israel when the air will be filled with radio-active particles? I believe the Bible states that in the "Battle of Armageddon" two thirds of Gods Chosen will be slaughtered. The remaining third will accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour. Looks like that third will be the Jews that will decline that welcome home invitation!

-Putin illogically states that Russia knew of mysterious Iraq plans against US prior to US invasion of Iraq.
-Rumors swirl about Russia sending 40,000 troops to Iraq.
-Russia has fuel rods destined for Iran and Israel/US will bomb Iran if rods are delivered.

calls for toys not troops- which the homefront is not willing to expend. They may think that failure in Iraq has simply rushed the inevitable agenda for using toys and mercenaries. However, the real menace, as always, is NK who will take note of Bush's chicken ultimatum to another defenseless country.
Will they await their turn? Clinton had planned on doing likewise in NK which the Bushistas will use as justification for their moves.
And if things go wrong, the Repuke war criminals are very well prepared to go the extra mile and drop "tactical" nukes.
Try explaining the inevitable agenda to any media source or the average Joe.
The idea is to win big by not using troops and trusting in the toys. That is the real point behind all the military changes. Privatizing, outsourcing. Imperial citizens comfortable at home with only the disempowered lower classes supplying minimal troop strength.
The Empire of Fear.
