1. Isn't that strange?
It's a small world after all.

2. Doesn't it strike anyone as completely surreal that..
we are about to have an election between 2 candidates who have "opposing" viewpoints that aren't all that opposed who are related?

8. not really
their viewpoints are more different than AP headlines might have you believe

doesn't look like they are all that related. Quadrillionth Cousin 200000th removed? Jeb is closer to Bush. I have cousins I haven't seen in 20 years

don't agree politically with all my relatives

4. I don't know...
Maybe it's a "small world" type of coincidence. I don't know. But:

1) If you know your family tree back to 16th century, that means you likely come from a patrician family. Most people 200 years ago didn't even know their birthdays. How many of you know your ancestry that far back? Well, patrician families stuck to each other, as we all know.

2) Who knows how many of us can find common ancestors 13 generations back? It reminds me of the "6 levels of separation" concept. This is probably a lot less wierd than it seems.

5. Kerry vs. Bush bloodlines
U.S Election November 2004

Burke's Peerage predicts that Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts will be the next President of the United States.

Burke's Peerage has documented all American presidents since George Washington.

During the last two hundred years it has been noted that the presidential candidate who possesses the most royal genes is the usual victor.
(Actually, Burke's Peerage has in the past said they are ALWAYS the victor, as here:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/US_election_race/Story/0,2763,393341,00.html
where they predicted Bush would win the day before the "election".)

Research at Burke's Peerage is underway but so far it looks as if the royal and noble connections of Senator Kerry even exceed those of President George Walker Bush. The complete research will be available toward the end of April. However, Senator Kerry's maternal lines includes both royal and noble connections. He has in his ancestry nine royal descents from Henry 111, four descents from Edward 1 and three from Charlemagne, and a descent from the baronetcy of Temple and from that of the Duke of Buckingham and Chandos...

9. So much for a black president anytime soon....*sigh*
Unless you have a "Strom Thurmond" type of situation....

(at least a hispanic president could potentially trace lineage to Spain.)

Democracy, indeed....:eyes:
