I think, given our current situation in Iraq, along with the extremely low morale of our troops, poking a stick at Iran would be an extremely bad move. But Bush won't care, if he can send people to fight in combat and then cut their pay and beneifts while they are fighting, thats a clear indication he doesn't give a rat's ass about the military.

Anyway, they continually insist (precisely because they are very much aware of the "what army?" problem) that they're going to do it all sub rosa, using covert ops and so forth. Which sounds like a lot of bluster to me. And of course the really galling thing is that the evidence for Iran's involvement with al Qaeda and some tangential role in 9/11 is WAY more solid than what they ginned up for the Iraq invasion.

...is entirely due to the over-extended misadventure in Iraq. So yeah, I think the more he has to say "Course we're not actually gonna invade," the more people will say "Yeah, because you couldn't even if you needed to." That's one clear logic in a very murky situation....
