MEME: The "new product" the administration will introduce after Labor Day
Edited on Mon Jul-19-04 04:08 PM by Walt Starr
is an invasion of Iran.

Sing the meme long and loud, they're gearing up for it like they geared up for war in Iraq before the congressional elections of 2002.

11. Probably. Because no one wants to risk their office to stand up.
Edited on Mon Jul-19-04 04:30 PM by aden_nak
But Americans, I think, are tired of war. I think they WANT someone to stand up and ask WHY we have to keep invading other nations, and WHY we're not any safer because of it. I think the majority of Americans are tired of our soldiers dying in Iraq and aren't going to take kindly to them dying in Iran, no matter how "spooky" the warnings are.

2. Can't invade, not enough people. But Bush will bomb
the nuke plant in Iran. He will announce his successful air raids while in his flight suit and with his helmet under his arm. He will be the war President again, with a brave and strategic move to protect America. Kerry better be ready for it. bush is behind and he will do everything he can to win.

3. so tell me, how did it go down in 2002?
Oh yeah, just TALK about invading and going to war. Enough bullshit talk that the Democrats got sucked in and LOST THEIR ASSES!!!!

We didn't go in until 2003. Oh shit, look, they can reintroduce the draft after the election and stay on schedule for an actual invasion in 2005!!!

Rove is playing the Dems like violins, AND THEY DON'T EVEN FUCKING KNOW IT!!!!!

6. you were talking about before the election.
Bombing a plant is instant success. If he gets elected, anything goes.

right after Labor Day.

Prepare for IWR II.

12. Gave me the creeps
Because, Walt, I think you're correct.

BTW: I've contended for a long time that the "fool me once" incident is a clear visualization of Bush's infirmity. At the time, I saw it as a seizure. Whatever, that tape definitely shows a "break" that is undeniable.

13. You think our troops are catching hell in Iraq now,
go ahead and bomb the Iranians and see what kind of shit that unleashes. I think, given our current situation in Iraq, along with the extremely low morale of our troops, poking a stick at Iran would be an extremely bad move. But Bush won't care, if he can send people to fight in combat and then cut their pay and beneifts while they are fighting, thats a clear indication he doesn't give a rat's ass about the military.

14. They don't actually NEED to bomb Iran yet...
All Bush needs is to seek the authority to go after Iran if "diplomacy" via the U.N. "fails".

IRW II, that's what he's after. the first IWR helped him hand the Democrats their asses. He's going for a repeat and the American sheeple are foolish enough to fall for it again.

16. Bush will let Israel do it!
Edited on Mon Jul-19-04 04:54 PM by iamtechus
Israel has announced its readiness to launch a pre-emptive strike against Iran if Russia supplies them with rods for enriching uranium.

If you'll recall, the israelis had no qualms about doing this to Iraq back before the Gulf war.

22. Good Let Sharon do it.
Israel needs a good global backlash. Bush can send in the mercenaries. They're costing 400.00 per day. Give the greedy bastards something to do.

18. Us and what army?
...to use the popular expression.

Anyway, they continually insist (precisely because they are very much aware of the "what army?" problem) that they're going to do it all sub rosa, using covert ops and so forth. Which sounds like a lot of bluster to me. And of course the really galling thing is that the evidence for Iran's involvement with al Qaeda and some tangential role in 9/11 is WAY more solid than what they ginned up for the Iraq invasion.

20. The lack of troops to follow through on saber rattling
...is entirely due to the over-extended misadventure in Iraq. So yeah, I think the more he has to say "Course we're not actually gonna invade," the more people will say "Yeah, because you couldn't even if you needed to." That's one clear logic in a very murky situation....

23. Love your sig line, WS!!
He's the whole Dean related quote -

"The good news for us is that Dean is not the nominee," Rove now argued to an associate in his second-floor West Wing office. Dean's unconditional opposition to the Iraq war could have been potent in a face-off with Bush. "One of Dean's strengths, though, was he could say, I'm not part of that crowd down there." But Kerry was very much a part of the Washington crowd, and he had voted in favor of the resolution for war. Rove got out his two-inch-thick, loose-leaf binder titled "Bring It On." It consisted of research into Kerry's 19-year record in the Senate. Most relevant were pages 9 to 20 of the section on Iraq.
