did a dumbass thing -- argued with freepers
Found myself on a super-right message boad, began arguing, they got all huffy and insulting, no surprise. I used to think like Michael Moore, that if you just show people the damage done by their actions they would change. Not any more --- the world, at least the right-wing world -- is filled with almost nothing but textbook cognitive dissonance.

Anyway, my last post to them:

Here's the truth:
Rupert for years supported the guys who wanted a war -- Kristol, Wolfowitz, Pearle, and even Cheney, (who really didn't need the money,) through think tanks and policy magazines. Then, when they got a delusional bible-thumping dry-drunk true believer in office, they applauded and supported his hallucinations -- that God wanted him to "spread democracy" by blowing things up real good. Murdoch used his years of down-market tabloid expertise (selling sex and cheap superpatriotism to lunkheads who can't even tell who is kicking them in the crotch) to cheerlead the scam while working the FCC for rules to allow even more consolidation -- which, BTW, pisses off Trent Lott as much as it does Ted Kennedy.

There was more, but that's the jist. Now I feel better,

2. I think all those years of 'hunting' bill clinton has innoculated them all
against any criticism of bush. they are told that it is just payback for the impeachment so they have their minds closed up.

3. They suffer from denial
and a pretty strong case of it. THey really can't handle the truth. Probably if they do, their entire belief system falls apart. They have to question their entire world and they're not prepared to do that.

5. You dumbass!
Naw I'm just kidding! Good for you for at least trying. Having been raised by a Rush Limbaugh lovin', Newt Gingrich quoting, Ronald Reagan worshiping conservative father, I know how set in their ways these people can be. There are times I think that all of the GOP and corporate leadership behind them could pull of their skin off and reveal themselves to be aliens underneath, confess to a master plan to enslave humanity, admit that liberals are the true freedom fighters, and they still wouldn't believe it. But you can't stop fighting, because when we do that, they've won.
