8. Thank ya, thank ya.....
It's not photoshopped, either.

D. Boon was a huge inspiration to me in so many ways. He made me feel a little less lonely in high school.

This whole "Moore doesn't have a college education" think is a canard, anyways, people. If he were to make light of his education, they'd bash him for being a snooty blueblood elitist who dresses down for political purposes.

18. Hehe, they cant have it both ways ...

They can't make fun of liberals for being elitist over-educated egg-heads AND uneducated dolts.

The accomplishments of Michael Moore are really amazing. His daddy wasn't rich like Rush's daddy. He didn't get his media station by fucking like Anne Coulter, Moore is ugly and had to write his way to the top.

16. Moore does NOT have a degree. he dropped out to sue his hometown
The lawsuit against his hometown was taking up too much time.

He was a super smart kid in HS, College, and today. Does not really matter what paper he holds.

3. The whole Moore/shrub debate puts into question the value of a
college degree. Moore doesn't have one, neither does John McEnroe (Stanford).

shrub has degrees from the most prestigious schools in the land.

Who would you rank as an idiot?

While Moore was briefly a student at University of Michigan-Flint, he dropped out to focus on activism, and began a career as a journalist by working for the Flint Voice, an alternative weekly newspaper. In time, Moore became the editor, and under his leadership the paper expanded into the Michigan Voice, one of the most respected alternative political publications in the Midwest. Moore's success at the Michigan Voice eventually led to a job offer from Mother Jones magazine, where he became editor in 1986.

12. Davison High School graduate, UM-Flint dropout
Took 5 seconds to do a Google search:

According to bio:
http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hc&id=1800064216&cf=biog&intl=us

Author, filmmaker, and political activist Michael Moore has developed a trademark style of tackling major issues with a sharp sense of humor while maintaining a regular-guy attitude, an approach that has helped him secure a reputation as both a razor-sharp humorist and one of America's most fearless political commentators. Michael Moore was born in 1954 in Davison, MI, a suburb of Flint, then home to one of General Motors' biggest manufacturing plants, where Moore's father and grandfather both worked. Born to an Irish-Catholic family, Moore attended parochial school until he was 14, when he transferred to Davison High School. Moore soon developed an interest in student politics as well as larger issues: He won a merit badge as an Eagle Scout by creating a slide show exposing environmentally unfriendly businesses in Flint, and in 1972, when 18-year-olds were granted the right to vote, he ran for a seat on the Flint school board, soon becoming one of the youngest people in the United States to win an election for public office.

Moore believed that Mother Jones, a leftist political journal based in San Francisco, had lost its bite, and it was his goal to give the magazine an edgy, populist voice. He often butted heads, however, with Mother Jones' publishers and management, and after less than a year he was fired, reportedly for refusing to run an article critical of the Sandanista rebels in Nicaragua that Moore believed was both inflammatory and inaccurate.

13. he did graduate from high school
Edited on Mon Jul-19-04 08:28 PM by Lisa
He was elected to the local school board shortly before his graduation!

"Four days after my election, it was my graduation day. It was a bit weird that week, walking through the halls of the high school as both a student (servant) and the boss of the principals. As we stood in line to go out onto the field to collect our diplomas, the assistant principal grabbed a kid and yanked him out of the line."

This online biography claims it was Davison High School, near Flint.

I think he did attend the U of Michigan (Flint) but in his writings and public lectures, he notes that he dropped out.

Isn't it interesting how some of the right-wingers cheerfully slam anybody who got past high school as "one of those elitist intellectuals", but in Moore's case he's derided for being stupid and lazy? And not just that, they went after Dick Gephardt and other Dems for not going to prestigious Ivy League colleges!

14. According to the Time magazine article
Michael Moore dropped out of college....WHO cares? I mean out of one side of their mouths the right-wingers say they hate "ivory tower" intellectuals then out of the other side they berate Michael Moore, a son of the WORKING class, for not having a college degree. IMHO, I think a college degree (and George W is living proof)can be bought just like anything else in this country.

http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/mikeinthenews/index.php?id=62

The son and nephew of GM factory workers, Moore was educated by nuns and Jesuits, and at 14 he briefly attended a seminary and had thoughts of becoming a priest. Eagle scout; expert hunter; good student. After disagreeing with a policy at his high school, he ran for the Davison County school board--and won, making him, at 18, one of the youngest elected officials in the nation.

Moore later dropped out of the University of Michigan at Flint and set up a crisis-intervention center.

20. I didn't say I was sure and being there are previous
posts that said he didn't get a degree, it could be I was thinking of someone else. At my age it happens frequently. I haven't been able to find anything so perhaps I am confused about that.

...now they bash Michael Moore for apparently NOT being one of them?

I'd put Michael Moore the college dropout up against Bush Jr's legacy MBA any day of the week. Just because daddy bought him a degree doesn't mean he's not a FUCKING MORON.

26. Thanks to my sis, Pearl for this posting...
here's what happened. I was having a discussion with a co-worker about F911. She stated (as fact), "Michael Moore doesn't even have a high school diploma." I said, "I do not believe that's true. Where did you hear that." She said, "the guy (God only knows who) on the radio said so." My whole goal is to give her the documentation that he does have a high school diploma only to show her that the "guys on the radio" lie through their teeth. We have to remember that unfortunately soooo many people believe everything that O'Reilly, Hannity, and people of their ilk say simply because they say it. It's scares the absolute hell out of me that believe it just because these people are saying it....and of course...the people that are saying it KNOW that many people will believe it as fact just because they're saying it. This is a big reason why we're in this situation.
