I received this puzzling e-mail today.
The subject line was:
RE: Your Bashing of Bush

And what have you done for your country?

Jon C. Potter SOA 1634 GA

I haven't had a LTTE printed since the end of May so I am perplexed as to what he is talking about. Does anyone know what SOA 1634 GA is?

1. What have you done for your country? That's obvious...
You bashed Bush. That is one of the best things anyone can do for their country.

2. Google "Jon C. Potter" and see what you came up with.
On a hunch I did so-- he's all over the place it appears.

9. I Did Too
He looks like an ex-military freeper-type.

SOA might refer to Special Operations-Army since he refers to serving with a SOG group and I know the SOG was a SEAL group in Vietnam.

12. Jon C. Potter, CPT SF, honorably discharged 1975 - He hates Kerry
Edited on Mon Jul-19-04 08:36 PM by papau
Fellow is a VietNam Vet and as such deserves a lot of rope before any should tell him to go F'K himself.

Indeed his awards are impressive.

As to SOA
MACV-SOG (Military Assistance Command, Vietnam - Studies and Observation Group) was an unconventional warfare task force engaged in highly classified operations throughout Southeast Asia. The U.S. Army's Special Forces (Green Berets), Air Force Combat Controllers, Navy SEALs and other units channeled personnel into MACV-SOG through Special Operations Augmentation (SOA), which provided their "cover" while under secret orders to MACV-SOG. The teams performed deep penetration missions of strategic reconnaissance and interdiction which were called, depending on the time frame, "Shining Brass" or "Prairie Fire" missions.

14. Deserves a lot of rope...
Sorry, I'm a bit wary of that. lots of deep cover activity = shit that don't fly in my book.

As a kid of a 2 tour veteran and part of a military family, black ops doesn't necessrily warrant respect.

And as Potter's lurking around sending unsolicited e-mails to folks--screw him and the rambo horse he came in on.
