War with Iran--what a load of crap
this is the biggest bunch of crap and it reeks of the same scenario of 2002. War. Fear. Anger. :eyes:

2. Crap in that it won't happen, or crap in that it would be wrong?
I think they will lead America on a path to war with Iran, though very slowly, after months of tough talking and only if Bush is elected.

Bush can frame it in the language of settling old scores with Iran: the Embassy hostages, the hostages in the 80's, Khobar towers and of course the 9/11 Commission report.

And I will not participate.

with this administration. I read that this administration wants regime change in Iran, but they are not going about it "overtly" only "covertly"...in other words to see if they will overthrow their leadership now.

4. They know that they cannot get authorization for the use of military
force. They are just doing it (imho) as a political ploy. To show * as the war president and to distract K/E from the campaign. Contrary to what others say, I can find no resolution which gives * the authorization to use force against any nation other than Iraq. The iraq resolution is specific to iraq. Congress has to approve the use of force, so, if they are going on vacation, they will have to cancel their vacations. This will force K/E to return to the senate and wait on the resolutions and the repukes will mess around with them and will delay and will screw up the campaign efforts.

I see it as a ploy - the weed that would be king has cried wolf and nobody trusts him. The sense of patriotism that was strong in 2002 has withered, to be replaced by mistrust and fear. Too many families have family members in danger in Iraq.

Let's pray it is a ploy and that they don't attack. WWIII will have begun if they do.

7. I totally agree
and you're right...it would begin WWIII. Bush only has war to run on in his campaign and to drum up a new one is what he needs to get his numbers up--or so he thinks. In reality, people are worn out on war and killing. People are waking up from the sedation of this administration lies.

9. Just imagine if they put this up for debate in the senate and Kerry
and Edwards do not attend the hearings and debates. That will look pretty crappy won't it. They just don't care about the possibilities of war do they.

That is their plan - hearings, debates, extending senate sessions just to mess with the campaign.

THey know they are losing and they are trying to throw a monkey wrench into the campaign to derail it.

13. madness

Just what in the hell would they wage this war with? Our forces are stretched out pretty thin between Iraq and Afghanistan. Where the hell would the money come from? The W gang has already ran up massive deficits with no end in sight, so how in the hell could they finance another war? Tax the Rich? Like that's going to happen. there is no way in hell the people who are profiting from war are going to actually contribute towards paying for it.

14. We DUers should know by now to just look on the PNAC site....
Will we go to war with Iran??? Well, according to the PNAC website :puke: diplomacy probably won't work with them anyway so we might as well go to war. :eyes:

http://www.newamericancentury.org/iran-20040224.htm

Iran's leaders have begun to make gestures of cooperation with the United States - which is not at all surprising given the presence of American forces in the surrounding countries of Iraq and Afghanistan and the rapidly declining legitimacy of the regime with the Iranian people. Given the Bush administration's goals for stemming the WMD proliferation and reigning in terrorist groups, it may be tempting to pursue closer ties with the powerful clerics. However, as McFaul and Milani note, there is little reason to believe that a commitment made by the Iranian government on these issues would be anything but an expedient retreat or, indeed, that it would be honored at all. In the meantime, by engaging the regime, the administration would "send a demoralizing signal to Iran's democratic forces," who over the long-term could actually provide the U.S. with "more lasting gains."

Here's what I don't understand about these people...they seem to truly believe that American imposed Democracy will make the world safer and yet it's the American Democracy that's dropping bombs all over the place. Safer?? How so?
