CNN: Lanny Davis bitch slaps Bill Hemmer over Sandy Berger...
Edited on Tue Jul-20-04 08:24 AM by Flubadubya
Hemmer does his best to trash and implicate Berger in this so-called "sensitive document theft". Hemmer goes on and on about how Mr. Berger, as a former defense secretary, should know what a sensitive (classified) document is and should know better than to take such a thing.

Then Hemmer starts in about the person who "saw" Berger stuffing documents in his socks. That's when Davis really lowered the boom. He basically scolded the news source for having taken the information from a person who would not even reveal their name, and report it as fact to the American public. Hemmer got his feathers all ruffled and shot back at Davis in defense of Kelli Arena (the reporter that got the sock-stuffing story from the unnamed accuser). Davis said he was not accusing Arena of not reporting accurately, but was accusing the person who gave her the story of lying.

Implied here, of course, is that Hemmer shouldn't be reporting this as though it were fact when the story is based on NO facts whatsoever, just hearsay.

PROPS for Lanny Davis! Piss on CNN, Bill "Yammer", and all the other media whores who take innuendo and report it as fact. :grr:

2. Yes, a source who "chose to remain anonymous"...
Edited on Tue Jul-20-04 08:24 AM by Flubadubya
told Kelli Arena that he/she saw Berger stuffing documents into his socks. Hemmer reported it as though it was a fact.

On Edit: Sorry... that's "socks",not "stocks".

8. yeah, that's what I meant, damn typo! ;)
I was kinda hoping that it had something to do with Bush's aircraft carrier landing, and all of the rumors that he had stuffed socks into his crotch to make a huge bulge. :D

6. Considering Kelli Arena is the same "journalist" who speculated as fact
that Bin Laden wants Kerry to win...She is a useless waste of space just like Woodruff, Blitzer, Zahn, Hemmer, Cafferty, ET. AL!

They are so funny because they think they are soooo smart when they ask such stupid questions.

7. Fox and Friends
Didn't hear CNN this morning, so can't comment on Bill Hemmer. However, some Dem should file a defamation of character suit against the 3 idiots on F&F for their comments every morning at 8 pm when they read their faxes from the RNC. Today was absolutely outrageous about Sandy Berger. I don't know what he did or didn't do, nor does F&F, yet they weren't even pretending to be reporting what was actually known to be true. It was all 'Berger did this' 'Berger did that' and of course all that he was guilty of stealing classified material on purpose.

I know it's hard for a public figure to sue for defamation, libel, or slander, but somebody has to make an attempt to stop what Fox passes off as 'news'. The first one that should go is that little girly-man fool Steve Doocy.

10. I can't even comment about FOX... I NEVER watch it...
because I know what they are about. However, I really get angry with CNN. I think we ought to have at least one unbiased news outlet in this country, and CNN used to be a reasonable facsimile. It is just terribly disconcerting to see even the last bastion of equanimity in news reporting being hijacked by right wing thugs.

16. Where's the democrat fighting machine?
God-all-mighty. Repigs put this out on Sandy Berger and they are now connecting it to John Kerry. If our elections end up in the toilet again, when bush/cheney are the most corrupt people on earth, we might as well stop fooling ourselves about freedom and democracy. This is a dog eats dog country and the repigs will chew us up in one bite.

17. Yes, I saw that. Davis did his duty is sticking it to Hemmer for
presenting something reported by some unknown as a "fact." Kudos to Davis. If only ALL the Dems were this assertive in the face of attacks.

19. Wait, does that mean we shouldn't have believed Deepthroat?
It's an interesting story and should be investigated. I don't know what happened here, but it's weird to say the least. I'm sure you'd agree to the same when it comes to Bush's military records that were lost on microfiche.

Take the blinders off for a sec.

21. Blinders?
Just what do you mean by blinders? ...that the media is wearing blinders when it comes to reporting hearsay as fact (just as long as it is about a Dem), or that the media is wearing blinders when it comes to GWB and his criminal administration since they have NEVER questioned any of his/their "questionable" behaviors?

Who exactly is wearing the blinders, now, and who should be taking them off? I say it's time to take the gloves off... just as Lanny Davis did and socked it to this disingenous bunch of rag-tags who call themselves America's media representatives. :grr:

27. That's fine, I agree...
...but that doesn't change the fact the Berger needs to be investigated for removing sensitive documents from the archive (to which he admitted). It's very hard to see that he shouldn't, unless one is wearing blinders. That's my point.

It's just plain weird, and yes, he should have known better.

29. I agree also...
insofar as he has admitted having removed documents.

What I take exception to is how the media embellishes and runs with unreliable sources and makes them out to be the whole truth before anything more is actually known about the case. This appears to happen ONLY if it is a Democrat on the receiving end. If the media had been only half as energetic and enthusiastic about getting to the truth, oh, say, back in 2000, I doubt GWB would have had a snowball's chance in hell for the Presidency. His balsam plane would never have gotten off the ground.

22. Yeah, and they're investigating that microfiche story A LOT?
Let's see CNN spends 3 seconds on the "dog ate my military records" story and I bet 3 weeks on the Sandy Berger story. That's fair and balanced I do believe.

25. The danger of such stories...
Anytime a story like this is written, there is a danger that it will transition from something speculative that should be corroborated before any serious discussion, to an accepted truth - without any additional evidence. The 24-hour news cycle has some to do with this (IMHO) because a newspaper prints an article, and the talk shows begin to discuss it. Later talk shows use the previous talk shows as sources, and any ambiguity falls to the wayside.

The destruction of Bush's records isn't quite the same thing because it is the latest in a string of coincidences related to the same topic - what Bush did in '72 through '74. But the media just doesn't seem to want to pursue this story with the same zeal as others. Why, I don't know...

There is some underlying deviance with this guy!

I also look at Hemmer along with guys like Tweety, Ahnold and Santorum as needing to finally come out of the closet!

Not at all, sorry if it is read that way, i'm no writer.

What I meant was, to watch this Hemmer guy you see him uneasy on many subjects, acting strange like he can't compose himself, nervous etc. Actually that is the same opinion I have on this Kelley Arena women. Watch either one of them next time and i'm sure you will see what it is I mean.

28. I saw that and he was acting like we hoped Dems would!
He did exactly what people here on the board having been wishing Dem spokes-folks would do! It was gr-r-r-e-e-e-a-t!!!!!!!! Davis hit the nail on the head and when Hemmer got his ass up on his shoulders, Davis reclarified it for the twisting twit. Made my day and is a model that all Dems should follow - because he implied that the story was a lie and also took the media to task for reporting an allegation as fact. Sa-weet!
