Why Do The Repukes Always Get A Free Pass On "Thin-Skinnedness??"
Edited on Tue Jul-20-04 08:49 AM by mermaid
Has anyone else noticed this? Or is it just me?

Natalie Maines makes a disparaging remark about bush, introducing a new phrase into the American lexicon: "being Dixie-Chicked."

The latest folks to get "Dixie-Chicked" are Whoopi Goldberg, for her joke regarding the Resident's last name, and a slang term for a part of the female human anatomy...and Linda Ronstadt, for her comments about Michael Moore, and Fahrenheit 9/11 at The Aladdin, in Las Vegas.

Reportedly, in the Ronstadt incident, half the crowd cheered Ronstadt, and half eruoted into boos. Those who booed her apparently streamed out of her concert (the comments were made right near the end of the entire performance) she dedicated The Eagles' song "Desperado" to Michael Moore. the ones who booed and streamed out reportedly also vandalized posters of Ronstadt, and threw their drinks at the posters. These same people, guilty of VANDALISM...demanded refunds of their ticket price on the Ronstadt concert, after, of course, having enjoyed the entire show, sans the finale, "Desperado." And yet, here they are, vandalising the hotel, and demanding a refund??

Where's the fucking cops??

And the manager of The Aladdin is no better...he escorted Ronstadt from the hotel, refused to allow her to return to her suite at The Aladdin, and, in effect, fired her.

What woulda happened had she dedicated a different song to GWB, and proclaimed him the greatest President ever, and claimed he walked on water? Half the crowd woulda cheered, half woulda booed...I doubt the people who woulda booed for that woulda VANDALIZED stuff...but Ronstadt would be, right now, signing a multi-million dollar contract with The Aladdin for six more shows, and be being hailed by that goddamn liberal media as being a "true American patriot."

And what of Whoopi Goldberg? She's a comedienne. It's her VOCATION to make jokes, sometimes, tasteless jokes. Tasteless humor often gets the largest laughs. For her actions, she loses her job as spokesperson for Slim-Fast (manufacturer Unilever Corp. for those who want to boycott) If she'd made a crude reference to Bill Clinton, Monica Lewinsky, and cigars, she'd probably also be being hailed right now as a "true American patriot."

In other, less star-studded cases, a West Virginia couple who were arrested at the State Capitol in Charleston, for wearing T-Shirts with an anti-Bush slogan...charges of trespassing were dropped, the court affirming (for once) the Freedom of speech/expression.

A lady in Philadelphia gets arrested and carted away for handing out voter registration cards after a showing of Fahrenheit 9/11. Yet, in Phoenix, a radio DJ offers free tickets to F-9/11, for those who promised to boo and heckle the film, impeding paying customers right to enjoy the movie. Yet, for her actions, the lady in Philadelphia is arrested for "inciting a public nuisance." the planned disruption of F-9/11 in Phoenix never came off, but I'm betting THEY wouldn't have been arrested for "inciting a public nuisance!"

Folks are still all over the Democrats in California for making issue of Gropinator Schwarzenegger's comments referring to California Democrats as "girlie-men..." (is that the best insult they can come up with??) These folks are all saying politicians should have a thick skin. Those folks saying that are all Repukes.

Yet, these same folks who say politicians should have a thick skin...they damn near have a stroke and need a waaaaambulance if you criticize Bush! Witness the "Dixie-Chicking" of Ronstadt and Whoopi! Witness the sneers being directed at California Democrats who are making a fuss about Gropinator Schwarzeneggers "girlie-men" reference.

Yet, When Bush calls Adam Clymer, NYT reporter a "major-league asshole" these same people do not call on BUSH to have a thick skin. They don't call on Cheney to have a thick skin, and even cheer him telling Sen. Patrick Leahy, on the Senate floor, to "go fuck himself." Later, Cheney even BRAGS about having done so. And this isn't being thin-skinned? What did Leahy do? He made insinuations regarding Cheney and his connections to Halliburton, and the no-bid war contracts Halliburton got in Iraq...and Cheney responded by tlling Leahy to "go fuck himself."

Natalie Maines gets all but burned in effigy...Ronstadt and Whoopi get "Dixie-Chicked," CA Democrats are called "whiners" for taking issue with The Gropinator's "girlie-men" remark, a woman in Philadelphia gets arrested for doing something that is an act of real patriotism, calling on people to take an active role in government, and to register to vote, to participate in the system that hundreds of thousands of our ancestors fought and died to defend...our right to vote...a couple in West Virginia gets arrested for T-Shirts...Bush sets up "First Amendment Zones" a mile away from him so that he doesn't have to see or hear the protestors, so he can continue his self-delusion of all America loving him...

Meanwhile, they go around calling reporters "major-league assholes," telling U.S. Senators, on the Senate floor, to "go fuck themselves" and "Dixie-chicking" anyone famous who DARES speak out against that One Who Walks On Water (Bush) and arresting the common citizens who do similarly, on bullshit charges...call CA Democrats "whiners" and "girlie-men," And then have the nerve to call US on having thin skins?!?! :wtf:

How come THEY get a free pass on the "thin-skin" thing? No one says a WORD, when they exhibit "thin-skinnedness" by "Dixie-chicking" performers who dare speak out, disparaging Democrats, who rightly take issue with Schwartzenegger's laeblling them "girlie-men," arresting common citizens who speak out, and shunting all other protestors into "First Amendment Zones" where their protests will never be seen or heard by the object of protest...and the "goddamn liberal media" never calls THEM on their thin-skinnedness!!
:wtf:

Am I the only one paying attention? Why is there not an outcry to the "goddamn liberal media" to quit giving the Repukes a free pass on "thin-skinnedness??"

Clinton was ridden, unmercifully, for the last six years of his Presidency, and even now, three and a half years later, they STILL can't leave him alone...but, make one disparaging comment about Bush...and they exhibit "thin-skinnedness" at it's worst...and, somehow, the "goddamn liberal media" gives them a free pass...while highlighting the "thin-skinnedness" of Democrats.

:wtf:

I dunno about the rest of you, but I, for one, am getting awful sick and tired of having MY patriotism and loyalty thrown into question, and having MY ability to speak dissent (which is an essential part of democracy) just because I won't drink the goddamn kool-aid!!

Meanwhile, who questioned the patriotism or loyalty of those who, to this day, are still after Clinton? In Clinton's case, they had the rope ready!!

Goddamn liberal media!!

2. This is something that really gets under my skin about Dems.....
The repigs get a free pass, even when leaders at the top say 'fuck you' to other democrats. The repigs have turned this into a ha,ha joke and Mr. Lehey into an idiot. The pervert gropernator got a free pass when he showed off his dick in public photos before the elections, and the democrats didn't even attack him for the physical assault on the many women that came forward. Now they are timid about attacking him for calling the democrats 'fags and pussies.'

Kerry has not yet attacked little president on the flip-flapper label. The democrats allowed the repigs to impeach their president and drag the first lady through the mud. And they continue to pulverize the Clintons. The democrats allowed the repigs to steal the elections and continue a personal assault on Al Gore.

I give them credit for the assault on that pervert Ryan guy, but his exwife did most of the work. I don't see anybody out there fighting that fuck Gingrich.

Where the fuck is the democrat's dirty fighting machine? They are fighting us with bombs and like Palestine, we keep throwing little stones.

3. It's true and annoying as well. Fortunately, a LOT of people can see
through the RePig attacks for what they are - crybabies pouting when they don't get their way. It is surprising how many of the Conservative men I meet are clearly latent homosexuals trying desperately to cover for their effeminate side. Personally I've had it with them and I am ripping them apart at any opportunity I get. I'm using the same vile language that they use, and they have NO response to it. They support policies of LYING BUDGET-BUSTING BLOODTHIRSTY KILLERS and there is no way to defend that. They are simply showing their desperation at this point.

4. Kick
More responses, please.

I may be biased, but I think my words are worth making sure people see them!!

It is about time we started calling them on this shit!

It is time WE started fighting dirty, like they do!

I'm sick of us rolling over and playing dead, allowing our enemies to frame the debate...and I am sick of the finger-pointing that they do when OUR people show "thin-skinnedness" and their response is that politicains oughta have a "thicker skin" yet, the slightest insult to a Repuke brings about the biggest display of thin-skinnedness in the hisory of mankind, and the goddamn liberal media doesn't call them on it!

Major league asshole
Go fuck yourself
girlie-men
Dixie-Chicking actors and entertainers who DARE speak out against Bush
Arresting common people who DARE speak out against Bush
Segregating protestors into "First Amendment Zones" a mile away from the object of protest, so that he never has to see or hear the protestors, or their legitimate dissent.
Attacking the patriotism of those who voice dissent.

All of these are examples of thin-skinnedness coming from the Dark Side...yet, we don't call 'em on it...and the "goddamn liberal media" doesn't call 'em on it either!!

I'm pissed! I'm tired of this crap! time to bring out the gloves and start fighting them at their own game!

To quote our next President, "BRING IT ON!!"

You think we're "girlie-men?" I'll show you what a "girlie-man" can do with a high-heeled shoe!! When you need a shoe-ectomy, after I've rammed my foot up your ass, figuartively speaking, by calling you on the very actions that you call US on!!

7. Dunno
I heard this on the local radio news this morning, KLBJ-AM590 Austin, Texas. and if there can be a more right-wing, partisan, "news" station in austin, I dunno what it is.

Mostly I listen, so that I can get traffic updates, and I can pounce and call in, and call the Repukes on something. I am notorious on this radio station's morning show as being the token liberal.

I ALWAYS get on the air. even if I just called the day before...they still put me on, and usually fairly quickly, since I am one of the very few libs they get.

Of course, being as I am a transgender person, and I don't wish the topic I want to discuss getting sidetracked and watered down in explaining this (I have a deep voice) I give them the same alias, every time...a male name which is not mine...though it formerly WAS my middle name, so I still have some right to use it...

9. Great Post!
I feel the same way. They are actually trying to control dissent by threatening people. The first rule of the Aryan's / kkk is to attack anyone (physically preferred) who criticizes one of the "brothers" They have a name but it escapes me right now. Bully something or other i believe.

These buttholes are censoring America through corporate control.

10. Yep
And the problem is...if you HAVE rights, but are too scared to use them...you might as well not HAVE rights. And this is one of the methods the right is using to strip us of our rights...by making us afraid to use them!!

11. Democrats let this
happen by not calling out the repukes whenever they insulted the Democrats. The repukes seem to have a reaction team that reacts instantly and the Democrats are just 'half assed' about insults directed their way.

12. No Kidding!
and it's pissing me off!!
High time we brought out the gloves and said "BRING IT ON!"
And took a leaf outta thier book and started fighting dirty like they do.
I'm so sick and tired of the Democrats rolling over and playing dead.

High road, my ass! The high road has never, unfortunately, led to the White House. We are gonna have to roll around in the mud a little bit!

And I am sick and tired of the Democratic Party refusing to do it! We HAVE to do it. It is now the only thing the vast majority of the elctorate listens to! Cheap shots get airtime! Mudslinging is memorable. Taking the high road gets us nowhere but four more years of Asshat Bush!

By the way, does anyone have pictures (please post if you do) the difference between the Bush Economy and the Clinton economy? You know, the ones where the Clinton Economy is shown as a super-bulked up muscleman, and the Bush economy is rightly depicted as a frail, weak, helpless, on-all-fours weakling?

We need to start getting our message out!

I cannot tolerate another four years of Bush! If he wins, I swear, if I can't find a way to get outta this country, I just might jump off a bridge! To spare myself the agony of four more years of tyranny, four more years of a shit economy...four more years of watching to country I love being run into the fucking ground...

13. this is the Great Double Standard
and has actually been in place for some time now, but the intensity has been turned up a notch by the thugs in the WH.

Repugs can:
Practice deficit spending and still claim to be fiscally conservative.

Create the largest government department ever and still be claim to be against big government.

Have affairs, and still claim moral highground.

Steal, and still claim moral highground.

Murder, and still claim moral highground.

Lie, and still claim moral highground.

Get the picutre? Repugs can do whatever they want, and they are still the 'adults', becaue the mainstream media says so.

Some world, eh?

14. what a fake issue...
They try and whip up some bullshit "culture war" because like five democrats cried foul about Mr. Idiot's comments.

Don't pay the slightest bit of attention to any of this. It's the RNC trying to stir up some sort of snipe hunt for feminists and homosexuals. Even dignifying it with a response of any sort is what they want.

Let this idiocy die.

16. This is one of the MOST important issues.
Freedom of speech is being denied to anyone who questions the policy of george bush. The republikkklans have, in effect, declared war on anyone who disagrees.

Nothing can more jeopardize the foundation of democracy than the bush attitude. Open dialog, fully informed, with truth and facts, and with all sides being heard along with thoughtful debate is the best of democratic action. Hopefully, a substantial majority will begin to appear from this process.

This is the heart of democracy as Aristotle envisioned it. Government through the consensus of a very large middle class.

Plato's repuklikkklans believe in aristocracy with different layers of privilege. The best way to govern, in their view, is with a super small ruling class governing a huge peasant class through the legislation of "moral values".

Today we have a huge portion of the media being controlled by a handful of individuals. The FCC recently changed the rules which used to control how much media an individual or corporation could own in a market. The purpose of this law was to prevent the possibility of government sponsored propaganda on a scale too large to resist. The market for the opposing view should always be open and sacred.

Unfortunately, repukes like rupert ??? (last name escapes me) have gobbled up large portions of the media. He is able to ruin the careers of anyone who displeases him, and apparently, he looks forward to each opportunity to do this.

GKC theaters no longer will run Fahrenheit 9-11 because it features dialog and documentation which challenges the bush administration policy.

In NAZI Germany, a person would likely not even have a job unless they belonged to the "right political party, the right religion, and the right social groups." This is the logical outcome of your argument; right here in America.

I am sorry that you do not see the merit in this most important issue. I assure you that it will make sense one day. Hopefully before it is too late.

see my earlier post as to why.

There is a massive double standard when it comes to passing judgement on liberals vs. conservative, in many different areas.
