For those of you unfamiliar with the concept of a Google Bomb, the premise is very simple. One of the search criteria that Google uses to determine what words will list what web pages is to check through its index and look to see how often a particular set of words reference a particular website. A little while ago, enough people set up a weblink to George W. Bush's biography where the link was called "Miserable Failure" that if you plugged "Miserable Failure" into Google, the first thing it kicked out was Bush. In fact, it still works:
http://www.google.com/search?q=miserable+failureThe time has come, DUers, for a new Google Bomb. In 2002, George W. Bush outlined the Iraqi threat. Naturally, this outline was available on their website. In a moment of grand irony or tragic mental lapse, the banner at the top of the page said, "IRAQ Denial and Deception". I couldn't even make this up. The phrase is "Freudian Slip" and the web page is:
Freudian SlipIn short, I am passing news of this effort along. I've already linked it up on several of my websites (personal site, livejournal, so on), as have most of my LJ friends and AIM acquaintences. At this time in history, with the public opinion of the Iraqi Invasion the lowest it's ever been, even a cursory glance from the media (which happened when Miserable Failure was Googlebombed) could have an impact.
