http://icasualties.org/oif/

Total coalition deaths: 1017. Americans: 896.

I know it's more important to talk about low-carb foods and forest fires that rarely eve happen in the west, but...

And how about Rush and Hannity? Don't they support the troops anymore?

1. Why should they? After all...it's not REALLY an occupation anymore.
We're just invited guests!

It pisses me off too how the media just rolls over for the BFEE.

Like a goddamned thing has really changed in Iraq?

2. I did hear some talking heads mention this a couple weeks ago.
It was obscured by the release of the Senate report on Iraq war intelligence, but Aaron Brown did make a point of it in his July 9th broadcast:

"As we mentioned at the top, the long-awaited report arrived at a grim milestone in Iraq. The overall death toll among coalition forces now exceeds 1,000 -- 1,002.

U.S. forces, of course, have sustained the largest number of losses -- 882 American troops have died since the fighting began.

The military makes it relatively easy to keep track of these sad milestones. It is a whole lot harder to measure the losses among Iraqis, civilians and otherwise."

5. Thanks for that...
Aaron Brown must be the only one to say that last bit too.

Do you remember the run up to the war and the coverage of it up until "Mission Accomplished?" 24/7 war, war, war, war, war, war, war. Every fricking station had a damned map on the floor and wall they actually stood on to tell us all in great detail where the WMD's were...you know Tikrit, Baghdad blah blah blah. Yet, now I can turn on the tube and watch a full 30 minute cycle of "news" on CNN and not even hear the word Iraq. And it is not just being obscured by Senate reports or 9/11 hearings...it is being obscured by Celebrity bullshit gossip and diet tips!

7. I heard the 1000 number also. Remember, self-centered Americans
really could give two-shits weather one-hundred something "other" coalition forces have dies there. Just like they don't care about the many thousands of innocent human beings who were slaughtered by our troops over there for being "in the way". Or they don't really even care about the mutilated Americans who's live have been permanently damaged - they would be hero's if they had died, now the Pukes don't want to be reminded of how awful they look because it reminds people of the REALITY of WAR. Stupid bloodthirtly murderers.

3. I didn't hear that! As soon as the military took over reporting all events
in Iraq they filtered less and less information. They have done this very slowly knowing the public wouldn't pay attention or notice they weren't hearing news anymore. Now everyone thinks things are just ducky in Iraq. Ignorance is bliss, but fatal to democracy. We need to do something about this. Unfortunately the media is once again failing us.

4. the first thousand to die in vain is always the best
but really, it's just numbers, and anyone can toss numbers around willy nilly. it's only our sons and daughters torturing and killing innocent folks. only 20 or so thousand of them have died, but who's counting? i don't want to bother my beautiful mind with talk of body bags and casualties and crippled soldiers and armless boys.

we cannot see their flag draped coffins, and we cannot see the money that has piled up in our 'leaders' loot rooms.
