Green Pres. Nominee Says He Respects Kerry Voters
http://www.mcall.com/news/local/all-b1-5greenjul18,0,2494927.story

"... in Bethlehem on Saturday afternoon, a cramped group of about 30 people heard perhaps the most unusual statement any presidential candidate will make this year:

It's OK to vote for someone else.

David Cobb, Green Party nominee for president, told supporters he will ''respect'' Green voters who choose Democrat John Kerry as the most likely person to beat Republican George W. Bush. Cobb concedes he has practically no chance to beat Kerry or Bush, who see Pennsylvania as a vital ''swing state'' that could determine who wins.

Instead, Cobb focused much of his appearance on building support for the independent party's slate of state and local candidates."

1. Good for him
Nice to see a responsible third party candidate, who realizes the stakes in this election.

2. This will earn the Green Party more future voters
than Ralph Nader ever has. I, for one, will not be shy about it in the future, as it shows they have the political savvy and pragmatism that is needed to be taken seriously on a larger level.

3. Excellent, a Green candidate with his head functioning!
Nader has lost all touch with reality. I used to really like Camejo, but I'm very disappointed in him for joining Nader's ticket. The Greens are doing it right this time around. They have insured that I will likely be voting Green again sometime in the future.

4. I don't mind Cobb
He seems like a good guy, and he isnt being funded by the GOP on a massive scale.

5. David Cobb has my vote.
I'm a Democrat who is still holding on to my lifelong registration in, probably vain, hope of moving my party to the left. Fortunately, I have a senator and congressman who opposed the invasion that I can vote for with pleasure.

6. I respect the Greens.
I like their ten key values, and think that their agenda is good for the US.

Unlike Ralph Nader, the Greens do not take corporate money, and have rejected funding from republicans with ulterior motives. This display of integrity is highly commendable, IMO. I recognize that the Democratic Party needs to take corporate funding in order to campaign effectively under our current system, and hope that after John Kerry is elected, that the Democratic Party will make a genuine attempt to institute an egalitarian public campaign finance system.

If the Democratic Party does not make a serious attempt to take effective action, circumstances permitting, to address issues critical to the maintenance and improvement of our democracy and take logical action to solve critical social and economic problems after John Kerry is elected, I will seriously consider joining and supporting the Green Party. And I have never voted for anyone but a Democrat in my entire life.

This public statement by David Cobb reinforces my belief that the Green Party places the best interests of the people of the US over ideology and party partisanship.

The Greens are displaying a great deal of insight, intelligence, and plain old common sense, and these are qualities that our country needs in our leadership.
