Seriously, why did Dubya want to be a cheerleader ??
in his high school and college days? Did he think that was a good way to meet girls? Did he think that was something he was good at? Did he have a need to be accepted and that was the easiest route to take? I think this part of his past tells a lot about the psyche of this warped Republican.

8. Much like his war in Iraq ( and his VietNam era service)
he got to jump up and down and cheer without getting hurt himself.

10. From what I've heard about Bush in his drinking days
it seems like it was a better way to meet boys.

In any case, jumping around and yelling for the home team was a lot less work than being the home team. Cheerleading wasn't the intense athleticism it is today.

19. That is why he attended Yale, it was an easy name for him to
remember how to spell. He almost lost it at the first try out though -- "Gimme a Y Gimme an E Gimme a L Gimme a L" -- because of his dad, they let him on the squad anyway.

14. I was a male cheerleader in high school and I can tell you that
it was something fun. I didn't have time to commit to a the hours of other sports and my squad only practiced four hours a week. There are other squads that practiced four to five hours a day, but I'm guessing that George's 'squad' (I think he was the only one) had a similiar practice schedule to mine. It was a good way to stay active and yes, it was nice working with 24 beautiful women. Cheerleading camp was the best: 200+ women and myself. I had some good time and I imagine Bush did too. It's probably the only thing I have in common with him.

24. Definitely NOT the girls.

George started cheerleading in high school at Andover. As Andover was an all male school, you can forget the theory that he did it to hang out with the female cheerleaders. This story (link taken from the "where did George go to High School" thread) suggests he did it because he enjoyed entertaining a crowd.

http://www.nytimes.com/library/politics/camp/061000wh-bush.html

It doesn't suggest his being a jock hanger-on had anything to do with it. But I would guess it did. We didn't have male cheerleaders where I went to high school, but when the girl's basketball team went up against the #1 team in the state, the boy's team got some cheerleader type outfits and did an excellent job of rallying the school around our gals (who lost in the final seconds). I can see where Georgie might have wanted to do the same for his jock friends.

Which I suppose makes him an excellent athletic supporter.

25. Maybe the same reason Jack's son (on Will & Grace) . . .
tried to make the cheerleading squad . . . to get the attention and respect of his father (from a long line of cheerleaders). It's all about his daddy!
