that over half of the prisoners in Abu Gharib were not even trying to kill American soldiers?

Didn't the Red Cross decide that over 50% were nothing more than common criminals.

A rethug I know is making excuses for the rape story out of the WP.

1. I don't know of a link, but from what I have read, many are just...

... "suspected insurgents". You know, they were picked up b/c they just didn't "look" right (a lot of brown-skinned folks over there to choose from; you don't even have to resort to racial profiling when everyone fits the profile).

I have also read that only a VERY tiny percentage of detainees are even suspected Al Qaeda (which means none probably are actually AL Qaeda).

2. I'm pretty sure I read a study the Red Cross did

that stated that many of the prisoners were nothing more than common criminals and did nothing to threaten American Soldiers lives.

And, I doubt if any are Al-Queda because I thought we sent them to Guantanimo Bay.

When push comes to shove, they were forced to admit that we have very few suspected Al Qaeda operatives in custody, and the vast majority of detainess (even at Gitmo) are just "enemy combatants" or less.

There is no excuse.

I'd suggest typing just that - "There are no excuses" when you send off whichever link you decide to send. If they have an ounce of integrity left, they might actually feel some sense of shame in their attempt to make excuses.
