My response to my brother's RW e-mail
I'm not absolutely certain that my brother is a RWer, or just pulling my chain for fun.

He used to send me stuff all the time, until I really let him have a rant of my own. Seems he subscribes to some of these joke servers that tend to be rather rightist (and, I suspect, a large source of a lot of the virii that he gets on his computer).

For quite some time, he hasn't sent me any political stuff, but today he sent me (sans picture, but I bet I could figure out who) the following:

Subject: Fw: From President Reagans Funeral

Best line of the day has to be The View's co-host Joy Behar's remark upon seeing this picture. . ...

"This must be the first time they've slept together in years"
-------------------------
So, I decided to respond. (and, just for fun, I sent it to all on the list)
-------------------------
Yeah, funny how someone can take a moment of prayer and make it political.

You know, a few years ago, Bill Clinton was sharing a warm memory about a friend at the friend's funeral. He smiled, and laughed at the happy memory. The "liberal media" immediately went into attack mode and portrayed it as a heartless moment.

So Bush41 gets up at the podium for Reagan's funeral and tells "a funny story" and the entire place has a chuckle. No attack from the "liberal media", despite the weeks-long Reagan-a-palooza.
-------------------------

Whaddaya think?

1. I've never quite understood the whole "Christian Sadness"...
...thing at funerals. If you believe in Heaven and such and your
"Dearly Departed" has been such a good Christian than it seems that
it would be a time for great Joy not depressing sadness.

(actually, don't the folks in New Orleans have parades or something like that??)
