Europeans Discover Evidence of CURRENT Life on Mars!
Ammonia on Mars Could Mean Life

Ammonia may have been found in Mars' atmosphere which some scientists say could indicate life on the Red Planet.

Researchers say its spectral signature has been tentatively detected by sensors on board the European Space Agency's orbiting Mars Express craft.

Ammonia survives for only a short time in the Martian atmosphere so if it really does exist it must be getting constantly replenished.

There are two possible sources: either active volcanoes, none of which have been found yet on Mars, or microbes.

Yes, I posted this Sunday evening in the Science forum. Sorry for the duplicate, but this is big and I didn't think a lot of people saw it. It certainly hasn't been getting very much play. Maybe because it was the European orbiter.

2. "and god help 'em if they have oil"
ha ha ... you do remember, of course, Bush announcing last year an initiative to send a manned mission to Mars in the near future ... you don't think he'd do it out of intellectual or scientific curiosity, do you?

5. Wouldn't matter if Mars had oil
It would take more energy to ship it back to Earth than it would provide.

3. Thanks for posting this
and it's sad that this hasn't hit the national news. Is it because it is a European discovery?
