3. Wait A Minute Here
How can the vote count be the same for both you and me if you have to vote to see the vote count? One of us didn't get counted at all in this one. Is it all fake?

6. Could be a refresh delay...
...or an "update every so&so minutes" affair.

4. But remember: we want PAPER BALLOTS!
Remember what we're shooting for is not just that an electronic voting machine print out some sort of receipt; what's on the paper and what's in memory can be two different things.

We must demand Paper Ballots: the thing you hold in your hand, look at, and verify is correct is what LEGALY COUNTS. The computers can serve in giving a quick preliminary tally, but it's the physical object that the voter has approved that counts, and if it takes them a few days to count them all officially, then so what? The Republic is better off.

8. 99% are now saying YES, with 2500 + votes so far.

Lou Dobbs's show is one CNN show worth watching. He just had a segment about e-voting, interviewing a Congressman. After the segment he did "Tonight's Thought," which I noted on the web page as I voted.

TONIGHT'S THOUGHT

"Let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a president and senators and congressmen and government officials, but the voters of this country."

Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945)

11. Remember: Voter Verified Paper Ballots AND an Audit...
The paper ballots do no good unless they are counted - and that means spot checks. Rush Holt's bill calls for spot checks and I'm afraid the Repukes will try to amend it out.

My guess is that we will get our paper ballots, but they will lock them away unless the election is within 0.5% Moral: If you cheat, cheat big.
