FOX likes socks! ( a blatant example of RW media lies)
Edited on Tue Jul-20-04 09:47 PM by RatTerrier
Here's a great example of FOX spin. Two articles - one from FOX, the other from AP:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,126249,00.html

Berger and his lawyer said Monday night he knowingly removed the handwritten notes by placing them in his jacket, pants and socks, and also inadvertently took copies of actual classified documents in a leather portfolio.

From a Yahoo link to the AP story:

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=536&ncid=536&e=13&u=/ap/20040720/ap_on_re_us/sept__11_berger_probe

Berger and his lawyer said Monday night he knowingly removed the handwritten notes by placing them in his jacket and pants, and also inadvertently took copies of actual classified documents in a leather portfolio.

And here, from a seperate site that prints AP stories:

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/S/SEPT_11_BERGER_PROBE?SITE=KGW&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT

Berger and his lawyer said Monday night he knowingly removed the handwritten notes by placing them in his jacket and pants, and also inadvertently took copies of actual classified documents in a leather portfolio.

Notice any difference. How did the socks get there?

6. As long as it's prefaced by "some say"
they can get away with anything.

OutFoxed explains they started using this term so they could spread their own opinions without having to rely on sources. When a newscaster says "some say", what it really means is "I say."

7. I get that part of it, but...
This article atributes the sock comments to Berger and his lawyer.

2. They sound ripe for a personal injury suit
given that they're attributing the socks to Berger's statement.
