Is Cheney 'baiting' Edwards?....
Edited on Tue Jul-20-04 10:19 PM by unkachuck
Cheney has been hammering Kerry and Edwards lately, provoking a fight. Edwards is staying on (positive) message introducing Kerry to the public. Is Kerry/Edwards not falling for the 'Rove-refocus-bait' before the Democratic Convention or are we seeing yet another example of the Democrats unwillingness to fight?

1. What's happening in the polls? Cheney doesn't seem to be helping himself.
And Kerry and Edwards are holding on to a small but solid lead that seems to be growing gradually but steadily.

2. don't worry
When Edwards and Cheney debate, Edwards is going to make mince-meat of Cheney and look good doing it.

3. they are not willing to lower them selves to rethug standards or
lack of values. The rethugs don't have a message other than being nasty.

7. I think....

11. i don't agree. I think people are ready to vote for wholesome
people.
John and john and their families look and act wholesome. They do good things for PEOPLE and have in their lives for years. They don't have to all of a sudden becoming caring....because it is in their soul and it shows....in them and in all their kids.....

Bush and co all look and act like thugs and their children are not very good examples of the values they say they are for......drunk father, drunk daughters, dope neice, mafia type people....
they may get a lot of money....but everyone gets one vote....and if everyone went and voted...it would make a difference....

the winning will be based on whether people go and vote.....and everyones gander is up enough to possibly do that...

that is why bush is bringing up all these non issues that are emotional....he wants people to vote against their best interests and for his best interests.....

and rw and emotionally charged people who vote based on one issue are voting against themselves...

we are voting for ourselves and for others...

14. I basicly agree....
But when someone takes a swing at you and you don't swing back, you look 'soft' and this plays into the 'strong' Bush image.....Kerry should definately stay above the fray but Edwards is going to have to get his hands dirty....

16. Yeah, but
Bush and Cheney look stupid as shit at their stump speeches with their petty little jabs and barbs. Like someone else pointed out, the polls are starting to show good signs for our side, don't change the formula if it isn't broken

20. I don't think you have to swing to win....that is a rethug idea
they seem to think the only way to do anything is as thugs.

Edwards knows the law and knows how to handle himself. And it will not be with fists. He has words which work much better than fists.

5. I would say that is good politics for Kerry and Edwards to....
...follow. Stay above the fight for now. The convention is going to provide a boost in the Democratic ticket ratings in the polls and Shrub/Cheney are doing everything possible to distract from that. The idea of a reThug war-room in Boston tells a lot about that bunch of neo-cons.

6. I say let Cheney self destruct.
There are so many signs. The dems need to stay above it for awhile while Bush/Cheney shoot themselves in the foot.

8. I agree. I'd LOVE to see Cheney tell John Edwards to 'fuck off'
on television LIVE. Rattle his ass, John.

12. edwards would not get in a fist fight...he has trained for years to
deal with thugs and did so in the court room.....he can be measured and pointed and obviously was very good at it...

9. You're so right.
I just read an article on MSN news yesterday that surprised me. It was about "The Family" (meaning, the Cheney family). It was filled with criticism about the Cheneys.

It mentioned how Lynne Cheney now has a hair-trigger temper and she's in attack mode. Anyone who even looks twice at her gets verbally lambasted. Cheney also looked like he was on the run. The 2 daughters are apparently circling the wagons to protect DAD, but it's an uphill battle.

Apparently the speculation about Cheney dropping out of the race has got them on the defensive. Also was mentioned the upcoming lawsuit in France and England against him.

Souds like a little trouble in paradise. Eh, Dick?

13. I certainly hope so
Edwards is an experienced trial lawyer. Folks who make it a habit to bait them often find themselves sucking wind. If Edwards responds, it will be in a time, a setting and a circumstance of his own choosing. Cheney will be left wishing Edwards had merely told him to fuck off.

In the interim, Cheney looks like the mean-spirited little man that he is. Incumbents are supposed to "look presidential". For Cheney to be engaged in gutter politicking smacks of desperation, and he has reason for that feeling.

19. and that is what the Dems need to exploit
Cheney's bad attitude is his Achilles heel.. what no one is realizing is that that is where the Dems need to aim and blast away relentlessly, just like they do on "libruls", til they bring him down.

Edwards' optimism is clearly anathema to Cheney--it's something that he cannot stand and he's almost acting like a jealous, rejected lover--making a bunch of nasty disparaging remarks just because. The Dems need to hammer home the notion of "Cheney needs to grow up and quit acting like a 3 yr old throwing a temper tantrum." Jeez! At least a 3 yr old can claim they didn't know any better.

This bullying attitude needs to be called out and Cheney needs to be put on the defensive because he's acting worse than a 3 yr old who's got an excuse for acting out.
