I am giving up my cable....
Edited on Wed Jul-21-04 12:00 AM by dennis4868
TV subscription....That's it. That was the last straw...I can take NO MORE. There are a ton of Bush scandals just sitting there waiting to be truly and accurately investigated by the so-called liberal media (Harken Oil, Halliburton doing business with Iran under Cheney's leadership, lieing about WMD in Iraq, lieing about a Saddam/911/al Qaeda connection, transfering 4 billion dollars from Aghanistan to Iraq without Congressional approval, torture in Iraq, outing a CIA agent because her hubby tells the truth, sleeping at the switch before 911, allowing Sauds to fly right after 911, lieing and keeping impotant information out of the Annual US Environment Report, not showing up for guard duty in Alabama, etc...). The media gives the above scandals 5 minutes worth of their time and then they call off the dogs and the scandal is forgotten. Sandy Berger takes home a page or 2 of national security docs (which the archives have extra copies and the 911 commission has copies as well) and the media goes crazy...all of a sudden people like Wolf Blitzer and Chris Matthews start asking hard hitting questions again. WTF? It is so frustrating watching the media attacking Berger and a few weeks back they were doing the same to Michael Moore...if only the stinking media would go after Bush and his crime family with 1/1000 of the same energry they go after liberals/dems we may be seeing Bush's impeachment hearing this week.

I have never seen the media in this bad shape in all of my life. It is so sad....I cannot watch it anymore and plan to cancel my cable tv (after the baseball season of course...can't miss my Yankees!).

How do you all deal with this?

3. Yep...Martha Stewart lies about a stock sale...Dubya lies about war....
and the reasons for going to war. Martha gets prison time. Dubya gets new negative ads in the grinder as he runs for election to the White House.

5. Would it not be simpler to just not watch 'news' channels?
I never watch news on T.V. as I don't expect to find news represented therein.

It's hard to believe that anyone would keep tuning in, hoping to find actual news reportage.

6. Because...
I am a fool and keep thinking that maybe just maybe if I tune in one more time I will see some objective analysis and reporting...if i completely get rid of it I will not have a choice any longer...

13. That's cool.........
I was just as foolish for quite some time, until I finally decided that rather than putting a limb through Wolf Blitzer's forehead (and thereby destroying our television), I would stick to programming that I could enjoy...though I am finding that there is less and less of even this.

I will however always have hockey (after the lockout of course).

I had my cable yanked and cancelled my newspaper subscription.
I got fed up with the media letting Bush off the hook.

8. Right On
Stop subsidizing them.

Not even the Yankees are good enough to keep their pockets lined with cash.

9. Watch what happens...
..after Kerry/Edwards are elected by a landslide... some hardcore elements of the media (Fox, MS NBC) will go after Kerry/Edwards with a vengeance, just like they went after Bill Clinton, but I imagine that at least half of the media whores out there will rush to curry favor with the new incoming administration...

I'm hoping for lots of retroactive investigations into all of the above mentioned crimes of the BFEE.. F9/11 was just the beginning and once BushCo no longer controls the airwaves, the investigations will hit the airwaves and will be fun to watch... as the BFEE is exposed as the cancer to mankind that they are...

..personally, I'm against impeaching Bush... it just ain't gonna happen with the Repugs in control of the House.., but I live for the day when I see Bush and his evil cronies doing the perp walk in orange jumpsuits, and no one in high office to pardon any of them..

That will be a sight for sore eyes..!!!

:hi:

11. It's beyond crisis levels--and people are asleep during the takeover
It is the worst I've seen in my lifetime. It will take decades to turn this around--especially when you consider that the conglomerations are still growing. The Carlyle Group just bought Leows theatre chains to prevent more Michael Moore movies from being aired--F911 just made it via the limited distribution channels to places like Crawford, TX.

In the time that the truth travels via a F911 movie, entertainers and journalists are being fired, censored or blacklisted for free speech silencing would-be voices with the fear of losing their careers.

Bush will lose this year but he, nor the party will lick their wounds. Instead, they will go into stealth mode--doing all they can to ruin Kerry and Edwards using their bought-and-paid-for media until they can again get their hands on the U S Treasury for the next round of looting--like re-emerging locusts they will swarm again in 2008.

The tragedy is that people are so manipulated by the lies and propoganda they really believe that everything is OK, that they should just shop for duct tape and hang their flags and everything will be OK--unless, heaven forbid, liberals tell the truth.

sorry if I'm rambling---bedtime

14. teevee is a big reason why folks are asleep
and i totally endorse the original post! throw it away!!!

tv is nothing but mind control, as it's always been; it's only that the science behind tv is better than ever. there is NO reason for any of us here to pay for tv- dvds are plentiful, computers are cheap, the internet is THE place for real news. don't get me started about how our $ for tv only supports monsters like murdoch and bush...

tv is an addiction; i should know- it was actually hard for me to give up. but the point is that like any other addiction kicked, i'm SO much better without. it's amazing to me how much more clearly and correctly i think now that i don't have it. it's amazing to realize how many intelligent people in my life who still watch don't know how much they've been controlled. talking points and memes are like a slow poison; they cloud the mind and confuse us, and we are being killed like the proverbial frogs in a boiling pot.

EVERYONE here should give it up. don't give those slimy bastards another dime of your hard earned and increasingly less valuable money. instead of watching life, take part in it! if you really need to see your sports, go to a game! there are so many things we can do without tv, and so many reasons not to have it.

you'll thank yourself so much when you finally do it. believe me, i know.

Edited on Wed Jul-21-04 12:35 AM by ChocolateSaltyBalls
but I would offer up shows like FRONTLINE, NOW, 60 Minutes and Globe Trekker as reasons for keeping a T.V. around.

18. Come on you can give it up. Just take it one day at a time
I too was once addicted to cable news. Be strong you've got in you to stop destroying your well being. First a day, then a week, a month, before you know it you're free of that crap. Then you can start working on clearing your system of newspapers. Soon you find that you can get better information from the web and here at DU from your friends who will look out for you. Be strong brother we're here to help.
