3. I get a knot in my stomach every time I see the names on Late Night w/ |
|
Aaron Brown read or on the Lehrer Report...w/ the music in the background...I take the time to read their name and where they are from and how they died...the part that gets me is always their age...and then I wonder about the lives they lived and were to have been lived and now gone...I think of their grieving families and the feeling and expression on their faces when they had opened the door and someone saying "Maam, Sir...we regret to inform you..."
How many more of ours and their children need to die for Bu$h's "Peace" and "Safety"?

8. We helped out in Charleston WV |
|
The West Virginia Patriots for Peace hosted the "empty boots" exhibit, laying out a pair of boots for every one of the military dead in the plaza outside the Civic Center a couple of weeks ago. We were holding our Annual Conference inside the center, and helped put out the boots, each with its own tag bearing a decedent's name, age, home town and date of death.
After three days on display, we helped pack them up for their next exhibit in Providence RI. There was something special about seeing all those pairs of boots, and packing them up. I know they didn't belong to the actual soldier they represented, but it was still quite powerful and moving.
There were also boards listing the Iraqi civilians killed in the invasion, listing as far as was known the decedent's name, date of death and approximate place and method of death. Several boards listing over 5,000 identifiable deaths. Many thousands more unlisted because of incomplete information.
But Little George wants to be known as the peace president now. I guess he's getting as bone tired of this little invasion as the rest of us have been for more than a year and a half now.

12. "I want to be the Peace President" - Yeah, "Piece of Sh*T" is more like it |
|
:grr:
Wow...that exhibit sounds powerful....pretty soon if our "Peace of Sh*t" President keeps it up, you won't have enough boots or space for your exhibit....
So you think his next War of Peace is coming soon to Iran? Do we have enough soldiers left to send? Any other kids here in America that he can pick out?

He'll be "batting a thousand." He must be so proud. I, on the other hand, am ashamed. And aghast.

5. If 900 Americans is a tragedy, what do you call 12,000 Iraqis? |
|
Oh, now I remember. It's a "war crime."
Actually, the really sad part is that it's probably not a war crime. But even if you could make the case that the 12,000 dead Iraqis are a war crime, what do you call the hundreds of thousands who died as a result of the Bush-Clinton-Bush-Saddam embargo in the 12 year preceding Gulf War 2?
Here's the math: 900 is a tragedy, 12,000 is a war crime, but 100,000 is just a policy.

11. Good point. I understand military deaths were in 5-10K range. |
|
Obviously a full count will never happen. And more yet will die. Even so, it all pales compared to the deaths from the embargo
