How long are Americans going to sit back and watch the carnage
in Iraq and around the world before they "recall" the entire Bush administration?

The single greatest threat to humankind is the Bush-America!

1. they are not watching the carnage
Kobe, Lacey Peterson, Ahnuld and such are much more entertaining. So, we'll be there until enough people know someone who got killed there-again, much like Vietnam.

2. The American People LOVE Carnage
Especially when it involves brown people or people who are not members of their immediate family. The American People are mean, uncaring sons-o-bitches. If they weren't the entire maladministration would have been ousted long ago.

3. I don't know any Americans like that
I would say about 95% of my friends are American, like me, and I have never met anyone like that at all. Are you thinking of a specific American?

on TV...or dead and dying images of soldiers, or mutilated Iraq children...only yesterdays bombing of a Jerusalem bus was shown, but the news wont show Palestinians being shot and murdered by Sharons soldiers..
The news wont show anything that will hurt the image of the Neocon thugs in charge of our country. Until US ers SEE the dead and dying kids in Iraq, soldiers and citizens, it is an abstraction to them.
Every drop of blood spilled in Iraq is also, imo, on the hands of the US mediawhores, who prefer profit and blackout to truth.

5. I'm looking for ONE person...
Just ONE person in my immediate surroundings who gives a sh*t (sorry to anyone offended by my bad language, but there is no other appropriate word to strike the point home). That's why I'm avoiding returning my friends calls--I can't stand the apathy anymore. I'm so torn up about Iraq and what Bush is doing that my insides feel shredded. How is it that so many people just go along with their lives and not care, even enjoy the death and destruction this country has brought to an innocent people? Then I come to DU, and find people in as much torment about all this as I am. I wish it were the same in my non-internet life.

and the only thing that woke my republican mother up was that my son's National Guard unit says they are going to be sent over there...THAT hit her...she says she wont vote for Bush ever again
It had to get personal
I wont talk to anyone now who pooh poohs this or ignores it..I get too angry...Its like the same apathy the German people had for many years with the concentration camps right down the road from them....out of sight out of mind....
I cannot fathom why people just go about their daily business in total denial while this horror is occuring............

8. Because that's exactly what ignorance is....
Any form of ignorance thrives on those who refuse to question the lies they have been told, because it doesn't affect them personally.

If you don't know any people of other ethnicities, it's easy to be racist.

If you don't know any homosexuals (or at least think you don't) then believing the right wing propaganda of the "homosexual agenda" doesn't take a second thought.

And if you don't know anybody who's ass is on the line in Iraq, then it's easy to believe the lies of the Fraudministration. The mission is "accomplished". The Iraqi people love "freedom" and can't wait to build a shrine to Bush Jr in the center of Baghdad.

In each case the lies continue because of those who remain willfully ignorant of something they believe will not impact their life.
