Sorry..here's my response: I'll try to delete it..
I flipped around and stopped ONLY because Cuomo was on... OMG he kicked their butt!! He was talking about his new book on Lincoln and then compared it to Bush and the idiots there went nuts and got all defensive and he called them on it, saying how defensive they were but he wasn't surprised!! They were yelling at him and he looked like he was going to laugh...anyone else see this??? Maybe they'll be video on it because Fox will probably see it as "we got Cuomo good"...

5. After the commercial break |
|
Brian K, who had been spanked by Cuomo, just absolutely humiliated, said," Yeah but he even says he's not a Lincoln scholar. So if you want to know about Lincoln, you need to buy another book." Brian Brian, Brian .... have you no self-respect?
Cuomo pointed out that each of the "big three" reasons that the administration used to justify the Iraq invasion were "untrue." (WMD; 9-11 connection; immediate threat to USA) He then mocked bush's saying, "But Saddam's a dictator!" and pointed out other country's with WMD, with 9-11 connections, and who could pose a threat to USA. Brian started WHINING about the UN, etc. Cuomo mocked him. It was no contest. E-D tried to resue Brian, who was almost crying. Cuomo said gosh, you are very defensive about this republican president ... I'm shocked that you're so defensive here. They cut the segment with E-D looking like she had just gotten word of a death in her family, and Brian looking like the brat he is. Brat, I say. Cuomo was great!

If they thought they could out-debate Cuomo... It was pretty funny how they were all almost jumping out of their seats saying..."but but but...our man is the best!!!" paraphrasing of course...

actually makes them sound far more articulate than they were. Only Steve was smart enough not to make a fool of himself going against Mario Cuomo. Steve simply ended the mis-match by cutting to a commercial break. They didn't have Cuomo back for another segment, because they needed triple the time he was on to talk to Gene Simonds of KISS about their year-long "farewell" tour.

8. Way to go Uncle Mario! |
|
I would have loved to have seen that. Mario is excellent in those kinds of situations. He's outrageously articulate and cool headed and has the ability to lacerate very quickly and deliberately. The person doesn't even realize they're bleeding profusely until seconds later. And the part about "I can't believe you're getting so defensive about this Republican President" (paraphrase of course) is a beautifully artful blow to their cover. Three cheers for Uncle Mario! :toast:

one of the best debaters in the past century. I've long admired his skills. His speech at the 1984 democratic convention is among my favorite political presentations ever.

I googled and found it. Thanks.

If we only had more like him to go on Fox. The better question is why would Fox have him on knowing that he can eviscerate stupid pseudo-journalist hacks with a few choice words.

over Cuomo on FOX. Last week he was on Fox (O'Reilly's show) and on the show he said that Bush did NOT lie about WMD in Iraq but he was instead misled about it all....WTF? I was so disgusted when I heard that from him....he can go to hell!

It's great that he's defending Lincoln, too, because the Right has really taken to Lincoln bashing, as of late -- third to Clinton and FDR.
They blame Lincoln for a lot of the "altruism," that threatens to take down their free-market, fat-cat jackoff. Lincoln has a lot of great quotes, I believe, about how corporations will ruin the USA.
You can tell that the L-F are really trying to move in for the kill when they're bashing Lincoln. The right is truly getting out of hand and out of line.

19. Lincoln spoke & wrote at length |
|
about the Constitution, the separation of powers, checks & balances between the three branches of the federal government, and emergency powers implicit in the presidency in regard to national crisis.... and none of his well-thought reasoning could be used to support ANYTHING the bush administration has done since 9-11, except the initial invasion of Afghanistan.
A proper understanding of Lincoln's thoughts in this area would seem to be in the national interest. Our country is the most divided it has been since the Civil War. The administration has no respect for the constitution, and no regard for the balance of powers in the three branches of federal government. This may explain why they would not appreciate a man as talented at communicating as is Cuomo, taking on the job of teaching Lincoln to the public.
