What are their excuse for bush not making more public speeches?
isnt he leading the record for the least amount of speechs since radio/tv?
what do they say his "excuse" is?
that he is too busy with more important things or what?

2. I do know someone who
went to a lunch thing for him a year or so again (this guy, a true progressive, owns a small business which was why he got the invite). My friend said it was quite astonishing how inarticulate W is, and this in front of a friendly crowd.

Even when he's reading off a teleprompter, and you'd think he'd rehearsed it, he stumbles over words. I suspect he's actually marginally illiterate.

3. not true
he's not functional.

Seriously, his talking ability is failing rapidly. 5 yrs ago, he was coherent. 3 yrs ago, understandable, but confusing. today, he is incoherent.

6. He is probably hitting the bottle again.
Would explain the frequent rash on his face. They have used different excuses in the past, such as he can't talk too much because it compromises security..blah, blah. Right. Truth is, he is not very bright and they know it so they try to protect him from having to talk. And Cheney really pulls the strings anyway but they have to give some kind of illusion that he is the real President. Virtually every word out of his mouth is rehearsed. He is incapable of making a literate, intelligent sounding comment if its off the cuff.

5. I miss the time
when junior speaking publicly was a humorous sideshow to US politics. Nowadays I have to turn my head in disgust the third time he mentions freedom.. usually in a few seconds.

7. He's an "average Joe..."

And as we all know, Average Joe doesn't talk a lot. Talking is for wimps and Democrats. That's all they do is talk, talk, talk. Georgie Boy is a doer, not a talker. He's out fighting for Freedom!(tm) while libruls talk themselves to death.

</sarcasm>

The real reason is he don't talk too perty.

9. They don't need an excuse because nobody ever asks.
Sure, we make snarky comments. But when's the last time a newscaster or editorial writer wondered why he doesn't speak in public?

If nobody asks hard questions, they don't need to make up excuses.

And I'll agree with whoever pointed out--he has gotten worse in recent years. Old films show an upper-class twit without a serious thought in his head--but he was able to put words together. There's been some serious damage.
