Comparing UPI "three nukes in Iraq" to original
Here is the original report the UPI release is based on: http://www.alsabaah.com/20040721/english.htm (al-Sabah is the Kuwaiti Royal Family's name - is this a Kuwati paper? The same one perhaps that has made at least one similar claim in the past?)

Here's the UPI report: http://www.washtimes.com/upi-breaking/20040721-081009-2541r.htm

Source: "The official sources at the ministry of interior and the national security advisor department have refrained commenting on the news."

UPI: "Iraqi security reportedly discovered three missiles carrying nuclear heads concealed in a concrete trench northwest of Baghdad, official sources said Wednesday."

---

Source: "seizing three missiles of nuclear heads in the course of arresting Khudir al- Dori the former leader at the dissolved Baath party."

UPI: "The three missiles were discovered by chance when the Iraqi security forces captured former Baath party official Khoder al-Douri who revealed during interrogation the location of the missiles saying they carried nuclear heads,"

(UPI contradicts itself as well as the original source)

---

Source: "The sources were quoted as saying that these nuclear missiles were found in tunnel underground at six meters length."

UPI: "lying under six meters of concrete"

---

Source: 140 words

UPI: 208 words

I suppose part of the contradictions may be difficulty in translation.

5. What we consider "official sources" would certainly vary from what
what the Republicans think.

For example, to us, Fox is tabloid journalism. To them, Fox is the pinnacle of journalistic integrity.

10. Let's see how many Corporate media whores RUN with this false story
Reuters:
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq's Interior Ministry dismissed as "stupid" a report in a local newspaper on Wednesday that said three nuclear missiles had been found near the town of Tikrit.

A senior U.S. military official told reporters he had no information on the report in the newspaper al-Sabah. He said officials were checking the report.

Asked by Reuters about the report, a spokesman at the Interior Ministry said: "It's stupid."

Will FAUX and CNN and MSRNC run this story AGAIN AND AGAIN and then tomorrow briefly mention it was a hoax?
