We may have an unlikely ally.......
This is in today's LA Times.

PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS 2004

MIDWESTERN UNITED STATES

PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES

LIBERTARIAN PARTY

REPUBLICAN PARTY

By Peter Wallsten, Times Staff Writer

WASHINGTON — Democratic strategists have long fretted that Ralph Nader could draw votes from their presidential candidate. But a new survey suggests that President Bush faces a potential threat of his own from a more obscure spoiler: Michael Badnarik.

In the survey, conducted in three Midwest battleground states, some voters who said they would choose Bush over Sen. John F. Kerry in a two-candidate race also said they would pick Badnarik, the Libertarian Party nominee for president, if he were added to the ballot.

The survey was conducted in Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin by the University of Minnesota's Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs.

Got a link? Anyway, he doesn't have the Democratic Party backing him the way Nader has the GOP, does he?

3. i hope so although i don't want democrats to fund him
i would rather democrats use any money we spend for politics to use it to support causes and people we actually do support rather than for attempts to hurt the other side.

but i would not mind signing things or other things which don't require much effort to try to get badkarik to take away support from bush. maybe we can mention him to friends and family members who are conservatives or republicans and would never vote for kerry but may consider libertarian.

4. And in today's Arizona Republic, this LTTE
Libertarian could swing Arizona vote
The article on Arizona as a battleground state in this year's presidential election was well written and informative.

However, it didn't mention the potential influence on the election of the Libertarian Party's candidate, Michael Badnarik.

Badnarik may very well siphon off enough votes from Bush to tip the election in Kerry's favor. Fiscal conservatives who are unhappy with the increased spending of the current Republican-controlled Congress and White House (and anyone who hates filling out a 1040 form on April 15) may choose to back Badnarik's plan of lower taxes and smaller government.

On the other hand, Badnarik also could siphon votes away from Kerry, since Badnarik takes a firmer stand in getting the government out of people's personal lives. And those who believe our military should be used for national defense rather than international offense may realize that there is little or no difference between Bush and Kerry and instead decide to vote for Badnarik.

Arizona certainly has an important role in this year's election, and it'll be interesting to see what effect Michael Badnarik's campaign has on the results.

5. All the Nader voters I know are right-wingers too
In Wisconsin, supposedly Nader is taking more votes from Bush than Kerry. Surprising how much Bush is disaffecting some on the fringe of his "base".
