I haven't heard a thing about it. ITV on my satellite TV is still the same ol' Canadian and foreign news (which is WAY better than the American crapola) but time's a-wastin' and we could SURE USE an antidote to the CNN/FAUX/MSNBC bullshit as soon as freakin' possible.

Anybody know anything about what's going on???

That whole Sandy Berger thing really pissed me off to no end.

1. It won't be a liberal news station
Seems Gore has this weird idea of turning NewsWorld International into an MTV-style news station for a younger crowd. As I've said many times, it's a bad, bad idea.

And I really don't need a left-sanitized version of news either. Whatever happened to just a non-biased hard news approach? Gee, what a concept!

2. Well, I'll have a wait-and-see attitude as to judging its merit
but yes, all I want is a media that actually tells the truth and questions the government.

One that puts a premium on the truth, even if the truth hurts.

Maybe that's just too much to ask

3. These Deals Take Time
Just to add to the above.

Yep, this isn't supposed to be a "Liberal Channel"...just a privatizing of the network that's currently owned and run by the CBC.

The initial releases talked about it being a "hip MTV" and follow the NWI model of music, art, movie and other pop culture shows around various international newscasts.

I agree that the concept is not one that will sell here since it'll be too CNN for the MTV crowd and too MTV for the CNN ones.

5. It Wouldn't Be A Factor Anyway
Battle one, if this network is to really compete would be to get on the "primary tier" of most major cable systems...with CNN, Faux, MSGOP. That tain't easy and will take a lot of time. Plus, it takes cash as these networks kick back bucks to your local cable company to keep them where they are.

This war is gonna be fought here on the Internet, through movies and documentaries and just strong word of mouth and self assurance.

I suspect we're going to see a backlash against the media if this regime gets real desperate or goes down...best to stay far away from that blood-letting and just enjoy the show.
