Wingnuts are already calling the Berger scandal Kerry's Watergate |
|
oh please. It could never become bigger than Watergate like they claim as no sitting President is involved. And furthermore, Kerry has no direct relation to this at all. So he had a guy on his campaign who a months ago was doing some not all great things that he knew nothing about. Big deal. He dumped him. I'm sure everyone Bush's campaign is a saint huh?
I'm just pissed this will waste news space that could be better spent on Bush's failures.

He called this incident "a third rate burglary," an obvious reference to Watergate.
It's not just anonymous freepers, it's the leaders of the GOP. They're proceedin cautiously, but they think they smell blood. I think they're wrong.

on local TV showed Hastert making statement, followed by Delay and others. I believe it was Delay who said ' this appears to be a 3rd rate burglary' or some such bs.
i caught the reference to Watergate in that...but honestly don't remember exactly who said it, since i try to tune out those sack of shits. dp
edit: you beat me to it, glad i could back you up.

9. Another "Hey! LOOK OVER HERE!" wingnut tactic... |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-21-04 01:28 PM by VolcanoJen
... bound for failure.
Look at the enormous strike-out on the gay marriage issue. Nobody was buying, and they had to fold up the Fundie revival tents and go home.
The timing of this is so suspicious, even CNN is reporting it. It's a simple-minded attempt at grabbing attention away from the forthcoming 9/11 Commission report, and the Democratic National Convention. Don't look there... look over here!!
As more facts emerge, this tempest-in-a-teapot will drown itself.

10. Bush & Cheney left the United States wide open to attack |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-21-04 01:57 PM by Chris
by purposely ignoring a crescendo of high-level intelligence warnings, formal DOD recommendations and their own experts. For nine months straight.
3,000 Americans died. Skyscrapers came down. The country came to a standstill.
And Republicans ... are screaming that Sandy Berger, two years later, scribbled a few notes from his own memos to prepare for his 9/11 testimony.
They appear to be worried that the 9/11 Coverup Commission run by Bush lackeys won't sufficiently deflect Bush and Cheney's fundamental culpability in letting terrorists attack America in 2001. So here's some more noise on top of the 'lots of people should have done a better job' whitewash the Commission has crafted.
I think most Americans will see through both this Republican diversion and corporate journalism's certain assistance with it. They've been better at seeing through the right wing crap of both the Republicans and the media. It's just a matter of keeping the focus where it should be, and in the end both Republicans and the media will look even more like the sleazy un-American institutions that they have become.
The Commission's Bush-coddling report itself represents the time for Democrats everywhere to point out how culpable BushCo is for the negligence-at-best that resulted in the World Trade Center attack. Strongly and persistently. That is something that all Democrats should keep front and center from now through the election.

If they can turn a legal Whitewater real estate loss into an impeachable blow job, I am sure they are confident they can turn a research faux pas into a treasonous offense pursuant to execution.
A state execution of a Democrat is their ultimate prize far tastier than the Rosenburgs.
