I'm having another "freaked out by the state of my Country" moment !!!
Every once in a while I get overwhelmed by the state of affairs since 9/11. The world seems crueler, harsher, more deadly and corrupt than ever. My country is invading and killing at an audacious rate. Saber-rattling and fear mongering are at a height that I have never experienced in my 29 years. I'm freaking the fuck out here people!

Someone talk me out of my tree please 'cause I'm gettin a little crazy here!!!

:scared:

5. Give us your hand ... that's it ... THAAAT's it ... we've got you
You are not alone. Please remember that. You are also not wrong ... everyone I know says things have never been this bad. But please maintain hope ... Kerry's got a great chance of winning ... and then our long national nightmare will be over. And the Pugs will just have to deal with it.

If not (and I don't even want to think about it), my friends and I are moving to New Zealand to open a bar for fellow expatriates. You're welcome to join us. We're all middle-aged, so we need a youngster like you to "bring the hip," anyway!

We're here for you!

17. True
On top of all that is that we are living this life of false reality. Bush's environmental policy can end the planet yet we are fighing terrorists. Every other word on TV is terror.

The rest of reality is indeed the scary part.

12. a mess is always greatest
right before it is cleaned up. ok so that isnt right, what bush and i have in common

you know when you go to clean a room, and you pull everything out, and then you look and think, horrible it is horrible a feeling of overwhelm. then you start throwing things away, giving things away and putting back in place in such order, and the wonderful feel of clean

personally i am just seeing the huge mess, before the cleaning up with election day, may look overwhelming, but without that mess, will not really be cleaned, not well and not right. so i tend to embrace the mess.........adn then i dont at all feel overwhelmed

i feel good about what is up. a lot of people are becoming aware. we have a lot of fear to work thru, that so many experienced after 9/11 adn went into fear.

14. I go through the same thing every now and then.
I force myself to take a week off of all news and only spend time in the lounge if I'm on DU.

Take a week off. Enjoy some good music, some good wine, a good novel (not 1984) and lower your stress levels. For me, this is the only way I can keep my strength up for the fight. I take a week off from news and politics probably once every 4-6 months to keep myself sane.

18. Norah Jones, her first CD
That helps. I am with you, F911 got me so upset I couldn't think straight. ALL that stuff in 3 hours was too emotional.

I can't stand hearing the Star Spangled Banner any more, it's meaning has changed so much for me. I feel like I've lost my country. Now I'm freaking out!

Take heart. The elections are going to cheer you up big time. That's what keeps me hanging on (and my buds here in DU).

25. Same old. We actually live in better times becuase now...
it is public. Read "A People's History of the United States" by Zinn. Did you know that the invasion of Cuba at the end of the 19th Century is ecactly the same story is Iraq today? Nothing is new, the only difference is improved information dissemination and a bunch of old-school cronies in charge who don't know how to manage it.

When John Kerry gets elected, nothing will change but he'll manage to keep things under the radar like Clinton did.

34. Don't worry too much, my friend...

Things will eventually get better, even if they have to get worse first.

The country will be rejecting BushCo. this November, I swear I can feel it in my bones.

Kerry and Edwards are nothing like the Nazis that our current administration is. They may be more conservative than most of us would like, but I think they will represent an important shift for the better in our national consciousness.

Hang in there!! :pals:

39. Sure... anytime, friend!

I utterly sympathize with where you're coming from...

There is so much that is so horrifying and nearly impossible to ponder... But I really believe everything I said, and other people here have made a lot of good points as well.

One important thing that the world has always been a pretty fucked up and unfair place... That is why you and I are here, to make it better.

We're the real heroes in this life, and we must often make our way through the most unpleasant and hostile of circumstances.

Just a few of my thoughts. :)

That's my real name, by the way...so, thanks!
