Matt Damon's first vote EVER will be for Kerry. |
|
Hmmmm. Shame on him for not ever having voted. But kudos for him for having the sense to make his vote count this year!
From IMDB.Com
Damon: I've Never Voted
Shamefaced Matt Damon has confessed he has never voted, even though best pal Ben Affleck is a leading celebrity Democrat. While Affleck makes plans to hit the campaign trail with Democrat presidential hopeful John Kerry, Damon reveals he always felt his vote meant nothing.
The actor says, "My reasoning has always been - and this is the worst thing to say - that because I'm from Massachusetts, everyone I would have ever voted for didn't need my vote. That's changing now because of where we're going in this country (America)."
Damon insists he'll be the among the first Bostonians registering to vote in November . He adds, "I'll vote for John Kerry. The last election I had this feeling everyone was just going toward the middle and it's the same thing no matter what, and it turned out to be the most politically critical moment in my lifetime."

5. Huh, I would have figured the opposite with those two. |
|
I don't know why but I would have pegged Damon as the Dem and Affleck as the apathetic one.

9. Because of "Good Will Hunting," Ben played the dummy, you associate |
|
him immediately with a repug, Matt played the intelligent one, and of course, everyone knows DEMS are the smart ones! Easy question to answer.

6. I hope many young people share his sentiment. |
|
The only Presidential election I ever voted in came down to 537 votes, recounts, and a Supreme Court decision. I think people of my generation understand now that votes do count and that there are real differences between Democrats and Republicans.
...If there are other young people that feel this way, John Kerry will win for sure.

7. I know quite a few people who are doing the same thing... |
|
...registering to vote for the first time, & for the same reason!
They always felt their vote wouldn't make a difference, but now they're convinced otherwise, & ALL of them are voting for Kerry!

8. If anything good came out of the 2000 election, |
|
it was that "My vote doesn't count" will never again be viewed as a valid argument. Personally, I'd like to see the electoral college thrown out the window so that the candidate with the most votes would always win, but I don't think that will happen anytime soon.
Yea, Matt Damon!

If he's only registering to vote in November?
Doesn't he mean October? Or do you guys have something different? We have to have all our new voters registered by October 1st.

14. I'm glad he was brave enough to admit never voting |
|
and explain why it's so important now. I think a lot of people thought the same as he did, that it didn't matter. But now they see that it matters more than anything.
Maybe he will influence others to think about it.

...why doesn't Matt get Affleck to NOT go stumping with Kerry. Sorry, but I think Affleck's presence would be enough to damn anything.
