Can anyone give me a place find unbiased information no Sudan/Kenya? |
|
So far all the information I've gotten (well 90% of it) is from right wing evangelical Christians who claim that it's a holy war against Christianity.
I don't doubt that there's a significant amount of truth to the claims, but when I hear them talk (or watch their videos, read their literature), I get a feeling I'm only getting 1/2 the story.
Anyway, any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks!

regularly does balanced reporting on Sudan. You may have to pay for some older articles, though. The Christian Science monito may have some good stuff, too.
try www.npr.org and www.pbs.org and search "Sudan" Lots of stuff there.
The BBC was alredy mentioned, and al-Jazeera might be of some help in filling in a few blanks. Al-Jazeera is slanted, but they usually don't outright lie or play too loose with the facts.
Amnesty, Doctors Without Borders, and the other NGOs have reliable reporting of atrocities and problems, but may not have the complete political stories.
Various UN agencies have much info, but the same problem with being very touchy about stepping on political toes. Start with www.un.org, and prepare to dig deeply through the site to find the stories.
None of these sources are perfect, but none of them have the kind of bias the fundies have. The Muslim-Christian battles going on all over Africa are more for who gets the power rather than extermination or conversion of the other side. Similar to what went on in the Balkans.
It's never ONLY about religion.

Arabs nomads want land that has always been farmed by black Sudenese who are Christian. The Arab nomads armed forays into these areas are backed by the central government according to all reliable sources such as foreign aid agencies working in the area.
