former mayor Ed Koch prefers Chimpie

I support the reelection of President George W. Bush. Why? Because I believe one issue overwhelms all others: the President's strong commitment to fight the forces of international terrorism regardless of the cost or how long it takes to achieve victory.

I do not agree with President Bush on a single major domestic issue, but in my view, those issues pale in comparison with the threat of international terrorism. Osama bin Laden and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the evil poster boys of mass murder, are revered and supported by millions of Muslims throughout the world. The stated goal of al-Qaeda and its supporters is to kill or convert every infidel, and that means Jews, Christians, Buddhists, and everyone else who will not accept Islam's supremacy.

(Later he says nice things about Clinton, trying to act fair and balanced. What a sorry joke Ed has become. And to think I admired him when he was a judge on The People's Court. Hey you jackass, Gore would have prevented 9/11. Chimpie was on vacation.)

2. The Bush Administration passed up chances to
kill Zarqawi before the Iraq War, because it wanted him alive as a justification for the war.

The Bush Administration also hasn't killed Usama bin Laden, as far as I know.

9. thank you, eric. THREE times they had him in their sites
while he was in the north, and each time they chose not to pull the trigger

does he KNOW that?

not that it would matter

even when I supported him, I always thought he was a glib charlatan; just a snakeoil salesman

now it's become obvious that all he cares about is upon which side his bread is buttered---was going to say matzoh, but would that be considered racist.

or should I just call him a girlyman?

11. The main priority of Ed Koch is Israel...
Always has been, always will be.

He will suuport whoever does most for Israel, Americans be damned.

And Ed still has not recovered from the fact that Guiliani was a better mayor, & more popular.

13. Of course you know you're anti-semitic
(Just thought I'd save anyone else the trouble.)

It's an interesting intersection of influences going on now: some of the fiercest Israel-regardless-of-anything nuts these days are card-carrying Jew-hating Protestant Fundamentalists, and many American Jews are deeply troubled by Sharon and his antics.

It will be interesting what difference is to be found in the Jewish vote this time around, but I trust the overall sense of this culture, and even with the extreme support of Israel and undeniable PNAC grudgefest to peel off traditional enemies of that country, many will stick to their Democratic roots. Kerry is also playing this shrewdly, but in a way that's frustrating too: the problem continues to fester.

I was just teasing with the header, by the way; it's the third rail of American Politics, and it has undue influence on everything we do.

24. No offense! Ha! Ha! Figured someone would post that...
Glad to know you weren t serious.

Politics makes strange bedmates...The nutty fundies & the nutty Likudnik/PNACers deserve each other.

If Kerry is elected, I would hope that he will make getting the Israelis & Palestinians back to peace talks, as an early priority.

12. Myopic fool
Yes, Ed Koch is a fool.

Anyone who would believe that GW is good for national security is a fool.

Good thing that Ed has little political clout that matters anymore.

21. Gene Simmons
Gene Simmons from KISS made the same arguments as to why he supports Bush's re-election. Said he disagrees with Bush on just about everything but that he'll vote for him because of the war on terrorism.

22. I always confuse him with Grandpa Munster (looks not politics!)
during the NYC water shortage in the '70's EggHead appeared on Tom Snyder's 'Tomorrow' show and imparted these pearls of wisdom regarding water conservation :

To flush or Not to flush

If it's yellow let it mellow,
If it's brown flush it down.

HOW AM I DOING???????

It must be swell to be a simple-minded right-winger, going through life in total goddamn blissful ignorance, and to see things in such black-and-white, imbecilic clarity while the rest of us dawdle with the broader concepts -- like, "Huh? What the fuck are you talking about?"
