Jenna "The Tongue" Bush Makes CNN!
I'm still troubled by the fact that the thing looks...pointed. Isn't that supposed to be a sign of demonic possession or something?

2. Disgusting.
Brat. It's so sad * is making them do this. I don't believe it is voluntary. Otherwise, she'd be more circumspect.

6. I was trying to figure out WHY she would do that
Edited on Wed Jul-21-04 09:44 PM by Moonbeam_Starlight
I mean hello??? She is old enough and has been around politics long enough to understand APPEARANCES ARE EVERYTHING. Her dad is in the political fight of his LIFE, things are looking mighty bad for him, he's convinced them to go around and smile at little pre-selected audiences for him. She KNOWS sticking her tongue out at photographers is going to land in the news, maybe not front page, but it's awfully WEIRD.

And she did it anyway.

I don't want to make more of this than there is, maybe it was just a spontaneous thing.

Or maybe she was saying "fuck this shit."

Adding on edit: I can't see how she would think she could just say it was a joke either. It LOOKS angry. Am I wrong here? It's a "fuck you" tongue.

9. Is this really a big deal?
I mean, obviously looking beyond the expected media hype (I'll burn the NYTimes in effigy if this ends up as a major news piece) and resultant talking-head chatter and resultant political complications on the campaign trail....why is this suddenly turning into a serious thing?

I honestly don't see how this looks like a "fuck you" tongue, or how any ill intentions can be interpreted from the news summary. "As the reporters started to laugh and snap photographs, the 22-year-old looked at them for a few more seconds, smiling and laughing."

This is a young girl, recently a college graduate, enjoying herself on the campaign trail while finding herself at the apex of media attention. Please, let's not "White House Dog" this into tasteless territory.

10. She's 22, not a toddler, , ,my parents taught me VERY EARLY
to keep my tongue in my mouth and not make faces at people.

No it is not a big deal -- but it is rude and dumb.

13. Who said it's a big deal?
But if I were her, I wouldn't keep that nasty thing in my mouth, either.

That's what my dear old dad always said when he saw someone sticking out their tongue.

It just makes me wonder....and I was wondering aloud. She HAD to know they'd snap pictures of it. And sticking out your tongue is rarely ever interpreted as "hi! this is a nice gesture!", in fact quite the opposite.

But whatever. It's just really odd to me.

15. I think she's asking for it
the attentions she has subsequently gotten and any insults that go with it. She is on the campaign, afterall.

She's not 3 years old.

10 year old. But, geez Lueez! What a brat....

7. The Minneapolis Star Tribune printed it today
on page 18A. Right next to the article about Normie "the weasel" Coleman and other Repukes heading for Boston.

11. Ahhh! I just love those young ladies raised with conservative values
To me, it is obvious that those poor girls just don't want to be there. They are SOOO not interested in this campaign.

16. By the way I bet
she got a good tongue-lashing from mommy and daddy when they got back to the hotel for doing it!

BWAAAA!!! Sorry couldn't resist!

"JENNA! NEVER stick your tongue out at the press!"

You'd think they wouldn't have to say that to a 22 year old!
