Could DU members get anyone fired? |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-21-04 10:10 PM by senseandsensibility
I don't know anything about freerepublic.com, except what I've read on this site. But it seems they're extremely powerful, if they got Whoopi Goldberg fired for dissing *. How did they do it? Why were they successful? Do they have more members than DU?
I can't help but wonder if DU members could accomplish the same thing. Not that we would want to get someone fired for speaking their mind. But could we get a corporation to do anything? Does the progressive point of view carry any weight at all? And if not, why not?

They can't get people fired. Only people can get people fired.

4. I don't think it was a web campaign that did it--- |

it sounded like the owner of the Mirage was a freeper sympathizer and got rid of Ronstadt mostly due to his own beliefs.
(Of course he is selling the Mirage and the new ownership says she can come back anytime after they take over--ha ha ha)

But I was asking about Whoopi Goldberg. It's been written many times on Du that the "freepers" got her fired with an e-mail campaign. Is that true?

7. Sorry, I'm not 100% sure about the Whoopi incident.... |

I apologize for getting the performer wrong--it is very disturbing that so many people are being censored right now!

for their politics. I would like to see some of those threatening bozos at FR charged for threatening assault. However, when I take a time out, I decide to chalk it up to ignorance and wounded egos.
We frequently write letters and encourage sponsors to leave really, really degenerate programs.....like Michael Savage.
We pick our battles though
