1. Are these newly released?
It says they are some of the documents obtained by the WP. Have they been posted there before?

8. I think this is from the Taguba report
There were something like 6000 documents that went with the report - I *THINK* some have been leaked.

3. This is a lie, there wasn't any rapes in Abu Ghraib nor any children
who were exposed to anything other than loving Christian values, otherwise, don't you think this would be in the news by now?

(I'm tired of hearing about this story when it hasn't gone any further than this message board. If it's true, it's more of a sin to withhold this sort of thing from the public, therefore protecting the abusers and not the victims. I would think whomever withholds such allegations is worse than any rapist of children because they allowed abusers to get away with it.)

If it's true, bring it on, show us the fucking video or release the pictures on the internet.

4. cant do it, child porn laws
unless you are tight with Colin Powell like Steve Case for example, trafficing in child pornography can get you in a lot of trouble. Heck, just being accused of it could ruin you in the eyes of many.

16. Pictures of crimes scenes are exempt from that
Otherwise you could never have a trial of a molester who murdered and sodomized child

5. I'm starting to feel that way too--a few witnesses here and there aren't
going to cut it with Americans who get lied to on an hourly basis by gov't and their media lackeys.

If videos were taken, then let's see them. That's the only thing that's going to shake America up . . .

(But thanks for the post, heh)

10. Patience
Bush* has declared war on the CIA, which they won't take lying down, and is reviled by much of the military brass for what he's done to their Army. Betcherass that by mid-October ALL the dirt, from children abused in front of their Mothers to the rape of young males by Iraqi guards with American troops filming, will be leaked in excruciating detail.

Drip, drip, drip...

Torturing Children
By William Rivers Pitt
t r u t h o u t | Perspective

Tuesday 20 July 2004

The biggest story of the Iraq war is not about missing weapons of mass destruction, or about deep-cover CIA officers getting their covers blown by vengeful White House agents, or even about 896 dead American soldiers. These have been covered to one degree or another, and then summarily dismissed, by the American mainstream news media. The biggest story of the Iraq war has not enjoyed any coverage in America, though it has been exploding across the international news media for several weeks now.The biggest story of the Iraq war is about the torture of Iraqi children.

A German TV magazine called 'Report Mainz' recently aired accusations from the International Red Cross, to the effect that over 100 children are imprisoned in U.S.- controlled detention centers, including Abu Ghraib. "Between January and May of this year, we've registered 107 children, during 19 visits in 6 different detention locations," said Red Cross representative Florian Westphal in the report.

The report also outlined eyewitness testimony of the abuse of these children. Staff Sergeant Samuel Provance, who was stationed at Abu Ghraib, said that interrogating officers had gotten their hands on a 15 or 16 year old girl. Military police only stopped the interrogation when the girl was half undressed. A separate incident described a 16 year old being soaked with water, driven through the cold, smeared with mud, and then presented before his weeping father, who was also a prisoner.

7. so we let the bastards win just because they outlasted
us?

just because we got tired of hearing the story? because we got tired of being the lone voice inthe wilderness? you don't think the children being raped in iraq by members of our military under our flag deserve our effort, our willingness to be a thorn in the side of people, to thrust this under their nose until the stench won't go away? until the smell forces them to take action themselves?

sorry, i just get so goddam pissed off about this situation, and then i calm down, and then i come back to the board and there's another article.

fwiw, you can take some action by hitting this thread:http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x2024522

and putting pressure on some of the media outlets listed there. post #9 has a killer list.

9. we need a video before acting?
WTF? WT freakin' F?
Thats the same warped logic that made our entire nation buy into a bogus war. "We aren't killing any civilians, if we did it would be on the news. Where's the video?"
There's no video of John Wayne Gacey raping, and torturing all those boys either. That must mean it never happened. :wtf:

12. i'm so sickened by this
i witnessed abuse of civilian villagers in vietnam; slaps, kicks, strip searches, etc. the collateral damage of any war is horrifying.

nothing i witnessed came remotely near this perverse & atrocious behavior by some u.s. soldiers in iraq. i am disgusted w/this country & wd leave by any means available, were it not for my animals; i can't subject them to a 6 mo. quarantine.

i have no faith that we can oust these monsters in november, & little faith that much will change appreciably even if, by some miracle, a democrat admin secures power.

there is no god, no allah; no messiahs. any higher power that cd allow this to continue wd be his/her own abomination.

i often go to sleep wishing not to wake; i've had enough of the horror.
