What is the job of the National Security Advisor? |
|
Since yesterday, I'be been hearing that the 9/11 Comm. is recommending a new Cabinet position to oversee all 15 security agencies and report directly to the Pres.
When there is a description of this new position, it's "to get information from all these different agencies so one source knows everything that's going on".
Isn't that what the National Security Advisor is supposed to do now?
Not that I want that to be Condi, but there will be a new one in January.

2. So make it a Cabinet level job! Better than just creating a new one! |

It's ultimately the President's job to make decisions based on information received from the various intelligence groups. But Condi's job was to coordinate it.
If only either of them had actually done their jobs.

This whole Commission recommendation is designed to take the heat off of Condi Rice who f-ed up royally.
Where does all the Intelligence come together? The National Security Adivsor and NSA. Who interprets, vets and summarizes the data? The National Security Advisor.
Who screwed up in the months leading to 9/11?
THE NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR!

5. I'm calling c-span tomorrow morning about this. |

I've never had much luck getting through to them, but I'll try. Maybe I'll send a note to my Rep. & Sen's as well. Seems to me a much better solution than creating any new positions. There's enough people running around the WH and doing nothing already!

6. the current NSA job description |
|
The National Security Advisor (NSA) reports to the President (sic) of the United States of America (PUSA). The NSA will act as the PUSA dominatrix. The NSA will accompany the PUSA on all trips of state and will function as his de facto spouse, just like a regular married couple, except during election season. From July 2004 through the election, Laura Bush will pretend to still be married to the PUSA on all trips.
