Big Bad John poem sent to me by sister in law. yuckkkkk
You're supposed to be able to sing this to the old song Big Bad John.
With relatives like this, who needs 'em!

Big John (to the tune of the same name)

A few mornins' on the Hill you could see him arrive
Standing six-foot-four, weighing one-twenty-five
Kinda' scrawny at the shoulders and lacking a spine
And when he spoke at all, it was mainly to whine
(Big John, Big John) Big Bad John

Nobody seems to know what's in John's soul
His 'beliefs' are based on the latest poll
'Though he'll say what it takes to get your votes
It's the leftist agenda that he really promotes - Big John.

Some one said he came from Boston town
Where he joined the Navy and gained renown
'Earning' three purple hearts and one bronze star
The home folks said, "This boy will go far"
(Big John, Big John) Big Bad John (Big John)

Then came a day back in '71
When he renounced all the medals that he had won
Then turned against his country and his Navy friends
And sold them out for his own selfish ends (Big John)

He appeared before Congress and on left-wing talk shows
Giving aid and comfort to America's foes
It was clear to see whose side he was on
Some say he helped cause the fall of Saigon - Big John
(Big John, Big John) Big Bad John (Big John)

He claims to be for the working poor
Yet he owns 5 mansions from shore to shore
He never had to work a day in his life
'cause he learned it helps to have a wealthy wife! - Big John

Now he wants to be our next President,
The Commander-in-chief of those he resents:
The American soldiers who fight and die
To give him the freedom to tell us his lies
(Big John, Big John) Big Bad John (Big John)

Thousands have sacrificed their young lives
To help ensure that our nation survives.
A vote for Kerry is a slap in the face
To all the brave soldiers that he's disgraced

FADE (Big John, Big John) Big Bad John (Big John)

9. Right, Jimmy Dean
Hard to believe that he was an early rap artist! The genre sure has changed.

3. Tell her thanks for sharing, you enjoyed singing it and...
tell her you're sending one to her that you're sure she'll enjoy. Here is what another DUer (sorry didn't note the name) wrote and posted awhile ago:

http://gsponge.freeunixhost.com/Commander%20and%20Thief.mp3

I'm not able to download this one myself, but comments from those who did say it's a good one. See if your sister-in-law can receive as well as give. I know what I'm betting on, but we'll see.

BTW--you may or may not want to mention her BBJ take-off is full or errors perpetuated by this mis-administration. I'm guessing she didn't write it!

Good luck!

Dopey as the "Big John" song is, it's at least based on a tune many people know and is "witty", at least for thise who agree with it.

The "Commander & Thief" one is quote-splicing set to some sort of technopop background, and the transitions are pretty obvious. This would just bounce off the Bushbots I know.

You need to fight fire with fire, or in this case, parody with parody:

Some good ones I've just discovered at http://www.madkane.com/musichumor.html

Feel free to sing "Yellow Bush of Texas" to "Yellow Rose of Texas" using this midi link which opens a second window.

There's a yellow Bush in Texas, that's where he loves to be.
Where Dub can dodge the media, evading scrutiny.
He cries so when he leaves there, it nearly breaks his heart.
Let's help him lib'ral voters, from Crawford never part.

Dubya's hiding out in Texas, where he so loves to flee.
He drags his top aides with him, to swelter in the heat.
Loves to torture pals and press and staff, with runs that tax the heart.
Survivors get a tee-shirt, but they cannot wait to part.

Dubya keeps the money flowing, fund raising from the right.
They pay big bucks to see him, though Dubya's not too bright.
They know that he'll remember where he got those piles of dough.
A promise of returns so great, their wealth will quickly grow.

An elitist little hustler, from Texas so he claims.
His eyes are small and squinty, they darken when he's blamed
For his speeches which are packed with lies, and manifold misdeeds.
Cause the yellow Bush of Texas, just cannot take the heat.

6. Whoops! That's what I get for recommending something I hadn't heard.
Thanks for the catch, and for sharing "Yellow Bush". Much better, and on a par with the "Big John" parody. Hope the poster's sister-in-law will read it, but knowing the RWers as I do, it won't mean a thing.

Sigh!

8. Thanks so much for the "Yellow Rose" parody. I will send it to her.
Unfortunately, I agree with you. I doubt she will find the humor here. She has been married to my BIL for l7 years, 24 of them spent in the Marines. He was a fighter pilot and, although I don't understand why, still very strongly supports the Repub. candidate...no matter what! I will still send the song to her, but I suspect all it will accomplish is to tell her that all her prompting won't change my mind either.
