Two minute activism...Congress voting on anti-gay bill today
Right now in congress they are debating passing a bill to stop states from recognising gay marriages from other states.
Please call or e-mail your congress person to vote against this bill. It is HR 3313. Here is the explaination of the bill/

3. I've called my Representative, Jan Schakowsky. She's voting NO.
At least that's what a nice staffer in her Washington office told me. Given her great stance on GLBT issues, I have no reason whatsoever to doubt the staffer. :-)

7. good for you
It is important that we let our republican congresscritters know how we feel. Some times it does change their behavior.

10. I heard about that...
but I'm still unsure whether I should bother. My rep is Eric Cantor (R-VA of course), and he's about one step better than Santorum. I am 100% positive that he's going to vote for it.

In cases like that, is it worth it to call?

12. Done.
Of course, Cantor is voting for it, but I gave them my name and address and registered my opposition to it.

One thought: arguing the gay marriage issue with a rep like Eric Cantor would be pointless, but appealing to their Republican sensibilities by stating how this law basically allows the legislative branch to overstep its bounds into judicial territory, something the founding fathers tried to prevent, might be more effective.
